Your asking the best person. I am 14 years old and went to Australia in July for 3 weeks ( I am American.) It was great. The best city of course is Sydney. It is clean, no homeless people, the people there are nice, and it is diverse. But I didn't just stay there I went cross the entire city. Personally, I like tropical climate and plants. So Cairns is my favoriite city. Again, the people are nice, there is alot to do in the city, and the beaches are the nicest in the world. If you have any questions, just email me at adam_akesbi@yahoo.com. If you do in fact go to Australia, have a wonderful time

The Gold Coast. It's all catered for tourists with theme parks, resorts, beaches, shopping, nightlife.. I could go on forever.

[ To whoever said Brisbane was the best city because it has the Gold Coast: I assume you are a moron from Hicksville, SA or the like because they're two completely separate cities about 80km apart. The Gold Coast is the 6th largest city in Australia following Adelaide. ]

You may as well visit Sydney or Melbourne while you're here and do stereotypically touristy things like pose in front of the Harbour Bridge I suppose.

I love Perth bit I would have to say Melbourne it is a great city and caters so well for tourists.

This is a very difficult question to answer because it's up to what you consider makes a city the best.

All our cities have their own charm and are all very different from each other.

But Why??

The Best City to visit in Australia is Sydney. You can take Day trips from here to Canberra, The Blue Mountains and The Hunter Valley. But as you are going on a two week vaccation why not try out Coffs Harbour and Byron Bay as well.It all depends on your preference for holidaying- whether you enjoy bush walking or sun bathing on the beach.

.
MELBOURNE!!!

Sydney? Are you kidding me? What do you do their? Look at the over rated harbour bridge and the polluted water?

Go to the gold coast

Cities are cities. full of shops, eating houses, and high costs.
Possibly the best city for closeness to many picturesque towns, beaches, and clubs with cheap meals, would be Sydney.
The beaches along the Sapphire Coast in southern New South Wales, are memories that you won't forget, with cheaper accommodation than any city in Australia.
