A small town called Mooloolaba, north of Brisbane. The beaches are just awesome, they have a little waterfront shopping center and a loo right on the beach (not to mention the name is cool to say)

Base yourself in Sydney and take advantage of the many free festivals, concerts and events associated with the Festival of Sydney in January which starts with a huge fireworks display over the Harbour Bridge to bring in the New Year. Travel slowly north up the coast to Brisbane with a stop at Cape Byron, the most easterly point of Australia's mainland and beautiful. Surfer's Paradise and the Gold Coast are full of tourists and fine if you like theme parks and glitz but avoid the place otherwise. The Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane is less touristy but has wonderful beaches.

As you get further north it gets wetter. Summer is the wet season in northern and eastern Australia and there is the possibility of tropical cyclones. Roads can be cut in heavy rain. The good side is that the wet season is the off season for tourists so things are cheaper in Townsville and Cairns.

Alice Springs and the Red Centre are not a good idea in summer unless you like walking round in temperatures of 40Â°C and above.

Well, since nobody's mentioned WA I'm going to put in a word for Perth, Fremantle, Rottnest Island and the south-west of Western Australia. Absolutely gorgeous. Having said that I now live on the NSW coast. I think the Sydney beaches are overrated because they're always packed solid,. Further up or down the coast (as long as you don't go as far up as the Gold Coast), you will get more unspoilt and emptier beaches which are just as lovely.

If it was the one and only time it would have to be Sydney- would have to see the harbour, do a pub crawl in Balmain, drive down the south coast and see the Royal Mational Park with all it's beautiful beaches and surf spots, maybe hang glide at Stanwell Park, have a beer or two at one of the cliffside pubs overlooking the endless Pacific ocean and then further south magnificent places like Summercloud Bay, Huskisson and Geringong.
PS- New Years by the Harbour and the festival of Sydney in full swing by mid January- I recommend Jazz in the Park at The Domain.

Bondi or Manly beach is a must. From Manly beach you can get a ferry into Circular Quay (Where the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, CentrePoint Tower is) and access into the city, The Rocks etc.

From Bondi you have direct bus services to the city.

Honey we are surrounded by water. Everywhere you look you will find a few beaches. I would go with Sydney cause I'm biased.

Hi, a very had questian to answer because we have water and beaches all around us.
The first place to look at is the Gold Coast Queensland.
If you like Board riding look at Caves Beach in Victoria.
Just come over and you will be most welcome at any beach.

Depend what else you like to do. Definatly go to brisbane, gold coast and sydney if you also want to do plenty of shopping and are into night life. If you would like to do somwhere a little more secluded or not so touristy I wold definatly recomend adelaide and western australia. they have heaps of quiet beaches and you can hire a beach house to stay in probably alot cheaper than what you would pay in Queensland or Sydney.

If your a beach babe, then there can only be one place, tropical Queensland, beautiful one day, perfect the next. Golden beaches, friendly people, warm balmy nights, great food and wine, A girl might say,"heavenly bodies on the beaches) from the Gold Coast thru to Cairns, you have about 1000kms of beaches and towns to choose from. Oh, and if you visit Townsville and run into a girl named Vicki, give her a big hug for me.

Sydney is your best bet. There are plenty of beaches all over the Eastern suburbs. Famous ones: Bondi, Coogee, Clovelly, and my favourite, Bronte Beach. In the centre of Sydney there are heaps of decent nightclubs, the best area is Oxford St, it has a huge gay scene or Kings Cross, to the east of the CBD. The best food: for Italian try Norton St In Leichhardt (that's where I live!), Chinatown for Chinese (obviously) etc. The shopping is good in Sydney too, the Queen Victoria Building, Pitt St Mall, and Galleries Victoria in George St, in the middle of the city, are excellent. Plus, you can visit Sydney Harbour (take a ferry ride), Centrepoint Tower, do the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb,and check out Darilng Harbour too. There's a lot you can do, check out websites for all the details, but I guarantee you will love Sydney! The people are very friendly too!

split your time between Queensland (Qld) and Sydney. Surfers Paradise or the Sunshine Coast in Qld are good beach areas, and have some fun tourist attractions. Sydney has beautiful beaches plus the harbour area is well worth spending time at. In Sydney you could stay either in Manly, Bondi or in the city. There is always the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns (Qld again) or one of the incredible islands in Qld like Hamilton or Hayman.

I think that you need to clarify what you mean when you say "we" as people may consider than an invitation to go with you, that wouldn't be a good idea. Didn't that crocodile hunter live there? Wasn't his name Steve Irwin? They probably have some kind of memorial for him, that might be neat. I don't live in Australia though, so I'm afraid I am not much help. You can go to the zoo also.
