When it is dark, unless there is cloud cover (or fog), in southern Australia, it is always in the night sky, and the angle of the vertical axis changes through the night, and the year; but it is always above the horizon.
In Northern Australia, it is lower in the sky; but my memory of it (and I stand to be corrected) when up there, is that it is always in the sky too.
On the equator, which Australia is not, it would only be visible for some of the night (so would set, at various times in the year) |

I see it in my backyard every single night, directly above me. The only time i dont see it is when there are clouds lol. |

You can see it throughout the Southern Hemisphere, not just Australia. |

How could anybody not know what to look for go to google earth and look to the stars and find it (poppet) As to answer the question yes it can be every night in all Australian states when the weather permits. |

I see it every night. Of course, during the year, it moves in position, but you know that it's always there somewhere. It's very bright and easy to find with its two matched pointer stars. |

I'm Australian. I've never seen it. But i don't know what I'm looking for either. All i can pinpoint are the stars that look like a saucepan. |
