Wow - so much to tell about Australia because it is so damn great I wouldn't have enough room on here to type. !!
SO ....here a couple great guide (websites) of information on moving to Australia since you will be here on a foreign exchange program. It gives you the information you need that no one would have told you about.!

The number one mistake Americans make about Australia is underestimating it. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane are all very urban cities with their own history and culture- there is an "outback" but most Aussies live on the east coast, in cities or suburbs.
The second mistake that Americans make about Australia is assuming Australians are just like Americans. Australian humor is more like British humor- they like understatement and the "inside joke" they don't like American slapstick comedy.
Finally, Aussies make fun of their mates on a regular basis- so if you find yourself being teased then you are on your way to fitting in if you handle it gracefully. If you've been there for three months and no one has "razzed" you, and everyone is still being polite- they've probably decided they don't like you, and are just waiting it out 'til you leave.
Give yourself time to acclimatise to the environment, and don't always be the first to speak in a conversation. Don't show off, and just be cool. |

Good beer, good food, good weather, good music, having a laugh, not taking things too seriously, everyone getting a fair go, and did I mention the good beer?

When you are introduced to an Australian, you should greet him in the time honoured way by saying "How ya goin'? A fair dinkum on your billabong, cobber". He will thereafter be your friend for life!
Australia, by the way, is all about..............!
What the hell kind of question is that? What is America, or Britain, or even China, all about! What the hell kind of a question is that? |

I'm not sure what country you're coming from, but Australia is a great land full of amazing friendly and slightly strange people, dangerous spiders and snakes (but you usually don't see too many, they're shy), wonderful coastal beaches and gorgeous unpolluted countryside. It's mainly desert in the middle, and most people live around the edges. The east cost is the most popular, and favourite cities are Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne (depending on the time of year). Winter can get a bit cold, and Summers are quite warm. Bring your sunscreen and your swimmers. |

1. Whatever the season is in the northern hemisphere, it is the opposite there.
2. If someone says you look daggy. Go back inside and either shower or change.
3. Jellyfish can sting or kill
4. Don't play with the snakes down there either.
5. It's rude to climb Ayer's Rock ("Ulhuru" to the aboriginals)
6. You can walk over the Harbour bridge in Sydney without paying 200 bucks to wear a funny suit and be clipped to wires. |

Hey! (no, we dont all say G'day :D )
First u may want sum misconseptions sorted out... most recon there r kangaroos everywhere...
there r kangaroo's (which r a pest), although dont expect to see them everywhere... cause they're not everywhere... if u go country (or into the outback, which is basicly the middle of australia where no one really lives) u'll see some... (sumtimes dead on the side of the road...gross) um... but if your staying in the city it's pretty cityish i suppose...i mean the citys r'nt huge but we dont all live in shacks or anything, :D and we do have skyscrapers in the citys...
um... this is a hard question... it's not really that different to any other country exept for our different accent... which of course we dont notice ourselves... of course u get all kinds of people here there r 'not nice' people as well as sum really nice people. but if u bring along a positive attitude and a bit of a sense of humour u'll be fine anywhere u go! :)
hope u have fun! |
