AussieGIRL♥

Can you believe this? (For people living in Australia)?

Walt Disney left a quarter of a million dollars or something like that to have a huge 'safari world' built right next to Werribee Zoo (near Melbourne),... and the government agreed and everything and then the stupid Zoo declined it saying NO. So there goes the best thing that was ever gonna happen to this state. UGH.
Any Australians heard of this? Imagine how many tourists would come ??? The only other "safari world" is in AFRICA ... Its so disappointing..

Jeez Corz, no need to be so rude.

It was a Safari theme park with waterslides and rides etc, not a real Safari. There is no way you can compare a theme park with a real African Safari, they are completely different The animals in Africa live in the wild and don't have to deal with waterslides, rides and the like, so why should the animals at Werribee Zoo have to put up with it.

If a 'fun' park is what you're after, go to Adventure Park Geelong, or Luna Park in Melbourne. And Google 'safari' so you understand what it really means!

"THE zebras and giraffes of Werribee Open Range Zoo have been spared the sight of roller-coasters and water slides with the dumping of a plan for a $220 million theme park at the site.

The State Government yesterday rejected the proposed African Safari World theme park at the zoo because the cost to taxpayers, believed to be $100 million, would have been too great.

Groups opposed to the 40ha theme park, which was to include a roller-coaster and water rides, were celebrating, saying it had been a ludicrous idea to mix a theme park with wild animals. "

That's odd. There is a very similar urban myth about a Disney theme park on the old Whites Bay container terminal in Sydney. And by the way, $250,000 would just about cover the scoping study.

I think the point here is that there is already a safari type park there, which fits in very well with the natural environment. I have visited it many times and it is great. We don't need another one.

Catherine
Who cares! lol Australia doesnt need a "safari world" ... All you have to do is get out of the city, and there you go, theres a safari.

Dont you know how expensive it would be anyway? tickets would be expensive.. And after a while you'll get tired of the tourists.

Here in Sydney we had a really good theme park, unfortunately it was closed down.. Now all we have is stupid over priced luna park.

Kylie misses her sleep!
Ive never heard anything about this. Hmmm.
What gives the Zoo the right to decide whom shall occupy its neighbouring areas. Rude-ness!

Hmmmm.... yeah that's a great idea.

Did you know that Walt Disney also left me 5 billion dollars to build a theme park next to your bedroom window. And he wrote me a letter saying "I want you to invite hundreds of people every day with cameras, and i want you to set off fireworks next to the window every second evening". Did you know that? True story!

Don't be so freakin ridiculous. Are you kidding? How many animals in that zoo do you think would die from heart attacks, shock, etc etc for a f***ing theme park?

This is purely an example of americans thinking it would be cool to do this and cool to do that so we can make s***loads of money and bring even more tourists in etc etc etc etc etc and they go on and on...

Just a quick question though, was your question actually serious? I mean, were you just kidding around or do you seriously and genuinely not have the intelligence to foresee what a theme park RIGHT NEXT TO a zoo would actually do??? If so, why not just move to america where they perform that kind of STUPIDITY all the time. Idiot.

He's gone fishing.
Nope, haven't heard of it. But do you expect anything more in Australia? It isn't exactly the "thinking ahead" country.
