Can you book grand canyon tours in australia?

I will be in Las Vegas in early August and are interested in doing a tour to the grand canyon (there will be 4 adults) - I am interested in organizing this tour prior to arriving in Las Vegas as we are only there for a few days

A warning about visiting the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas. Although the Grand Canyon runs for over 250 miles and the western end is at Lake Mead near Las Vegas, the famous main part of the canyon (the National Park) is near the middle and quite a ways from Las Vegas. Some tour companies in Las Vegas promote Grand Canyon tours (or fly-overs) that only visit the western end. While this area is pretty, it is NOT the true Grand Canyon and has neither the depth or variety of formations as the famous areas further east. Likewise, for over a decade now, aircraft of any sort are NOT allowed over the main 'central corridor' part of the canyon due to noise and safety issues. As a result, any helicopter or airplane tour is going to be over other areas. Still pretty and dramatic to be sure, but not the real heart of the canyon.

From Las Vegas, you can get to the North Rim Lodge (which is cooler and less crowded than the south rim) in about 4-5 hours of driving. This is a very pretty spot, overlooking the central part of the canyon. Nearby are a couple of excellent other overlooks including the famous (and frequently photographed) Point Royale. Note that there is very limited lodging at the North Rim lodge or nearby.

My recommendation would be to rent a car, drive to the north rim lodge and spend the night (the canyon is most dramatic at sunrise and sunset). You can easily stop by Zion National Park along the way (not as famous as GC, but very nice and well worth the visit). Note that the lodges at both GC and Zion are ran by Xanterra (see link below) and you can book rooms online. There are plenty of other hotels near Zion (in Springdale), but only other options near the North Rim are at Jacob Lake (and further away) at Fredonia and Kanab, UT.

You can probably get bus trips to the north or south rim lodges from Vegas, but for the number of people you have it will be more expensive and you will be stuck with a big crowd of people. GC and Zion are very spiritual and inspiring spots that are best experienced at your own pace.

Speak with a travel agent.

Flight centre arranged our tours.

I suggest a hellicopter flight, the plane was just ok, but we were leaning all over each other to see out the little window.

Yes if you do some searching there are many places that will allow you to make reservations to tour the grand canyon, it doesn't matter where you are from. There are donkey rides to the bottom, hiking, helicopter tours, rim tours (from the top only..) Just search for grand canyon tour and you should find a bunch of places... and if you are into hiking the havasupai reservation has some of the most incredible sites in this whole country... but it's not for amateurs ;)
