You can carry it in either your carry on or checked in luggage without any problems. Only fruit can't be carried between some states - all other food is OK.

Of course you can.

there is no restrictions on moving food within Australia with the exception of fruit from fruit fly areas

David P

Not only can you take chocolate interstate, you can also bring it into Australia from overseas with no problem whatsoever.

I lined up at quarantine coming back from UK and showed the officials my carrier bag full of commercially prepared chocolate. They sighed and said it is a complete myth that you cannot bring food of any kind into Australia. They are only worried about fresh stuff, dairy, meat, veg, fruit, etc. Anything else that is prepared in a factory, no worries.

for sure!!! fruit, nuts, seeds and honey are the only food/s they are really worried about, especially when you fly into WA

Yes of course you can. I have carried chocolate from Thailand to Sydney before. Threw it out at the airport just in case though.

Mel
There is no problem taking food interstate. I would actually put it in my carry on luggage, might be a bit safer there and not thrown around so much.

Yes, of course you can. Despite Queensland's best efforts, it is a part of the same country as New South Wales is a part of! No customs between states. Yet:) Ha ha ha.

Yeah you can, if your still worried just ask a luggage bloke at the airport. If they say no, wolf it down real quick :)
