G'day,

I recommend you to use the service of www.wotif.com. Most hotels are OK in city, but you didn't specify the budget though. YWCA is the other decent one and close to everywhere.

If u dun mind hostels, then head to www.yha.com.au. Their hostel on Queensberry Rd are quite good compared with the other one.

Hope this helps. Have a terrific trip and welcome to Melbourne :)

dont stress too much about being too close to the city. as long as your near a train line. good luck. dont go for a hotel, go for a motel. You're only going to sleep and shower there. Y pay heaps for a bed and shower? chances are you'll eat out, and be site seeing all day and partying all night.

The Urban central in South melbourne is very central to everything. it is a hostel type environment, but has bands, comedians etc that play in the bar there. macdonalds is directly over the road as is a tram stop. You are a 5 min walk to crown casino and there are a number of nightclubs nearby as well. Clarendon street runs parallel, and had a number of great restaurants etc along there incl a supermarket. For great fun, I think this is a fantastastic option. Dont be scared if you havent stayed in a hostel before as they are great fun and you meet some marvellous people

Sure .... there's sacks and you might benefit from using the sort filter on this directory to arrange by price, star rating and location.

Sounds like you're planning ahead, so don't concern yourself with the last minute offers.

Have you considered booking one of the serviced apartments - go for a bit of luxury and eat out in the many bars, cafes and cheap restaurants. Some of the serviced apartments are cheaper than regular hotels. Just a thought ( click on the pricing tags to see a full display behind it ) :

I recommend the Victoria Hotel. http://www.unusedrooms.com/specials/hotel/Victoria%20Hotel%20Melbourne%20(The)%20managed%20by%20Accor.html It is in the city centre and can cost as little as $65 Australian dollars. located 20 mtrs from the city hall it is ideally located near all the central activities.

A great choice is Hotel Y which is run by the YWCA. It's right in town - close to shopping, nightclubs, tourist stuff and public transport, really nice (not backpackers), and really good rates in my experience. They're changing thier website but you can go to www.ywca.net and click on Commercial Services then Hotel Y, this will give you email and phone details.

Life is what it is! :)))))))))
I dont know where melbourne is but you should try www.hotels.com.
