Cheapest Time of Year to Visit Australia (flight wise)?

From experience, can anyone tell me if november is an expensive time to travel to aus (melbourne) from UK. At the moment flight prices are circa £750. Is this likely to come down in coming months??

November in Melbourne is their summer so it will be a bit more expensive to fly out then, were going in just over 2 weeks to Melbourne, we got our flights for £1,400 for the pair of us from Thomas Cook, that includes 3 nights in Singapore too at a good hotel, they have some good deals so check them out and good luck.

Ask an independent travel agency for comparative lists of various airlines (don't ask the airlines, they're prejudiced of course). Each airline has own peak/shoulder/offpeak dates, not all the same. I found help from Austravel and Travelbag, but other big High Street names were a complete washout.

From the UK, Christmas and summer are the peak times as those are the times people are visiting relatives. November prices will not get lower until March or April. Winter in Australia is the cheapest time to visit and the cheapest for internal fares and accommodation except in the north. May to September is peak time for the tropics as it is the dry season. You might get a cheaper flight to Australia then but it will be more expensive in Australia if you want to see the north.

Check the Air New Zealand website. They fly from London to both Australia and New Zealand. Melbourne should be least expensive May to mid-August, since it can be quite cool (below freezing at night) even into mid-September. Prices start to climb in late August through end of November ( shoulder season), but not as high as December to early February (school holidays in both Oz and NZ). I've traveled Down Under on both Qantas and Air New Zealand and much prefer ANZ for both hospitality and seat comfort.
