The government has never given out a copy of all the questions. Apparently you get asked 25 out of a pool of 200 questions. A sample quiz is avaliable at http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,21752541-2,00.html but I'm not sure how good it really is.

Although Catherine Deveny has a good spoof quiz... http://www.theage.com.au/news/opinion/we-dont-want-migrants-coming-here-with-their-rich-culture/2007/08/28/1188067108372.html check it out.

You can, evidently, have as many goes as you like to try to get them right. Fail today, you are not deported but can come back next week and try again. A mindlessly stupid process! I think the government should give the test to all its MPs and staff and publish the results. I can think of a few who would be lucky to write their name correctly at the top of the page.

Some of the questions were in the paper the other day.I can't remember all of them but some of them were,
what is the national flower of Australia?
What is the capital of Australia?
What colours are on the Australian Flag?
What is the first line of the Australian national anthem?
What year was Australia first discovered?
To me asking these questions are absolutely absorbed.
I had a barbecue at my house on the weekend with about 30 other people and I only remember the questions above as they are the only ones most people got right.(20 of those people were Australians,10 were Irish),and on Monday at my daughters school, her teacher asked the same questions to my daughters class, and they to,got alot of the answers wrong so how can our government expect other people from another country to know all the answers when there seems to be some Australians themselves who don't know all the answers.

Well I didn't do too badly but I could only get to 5 States, so I checked my Jacaranda Atlas that I got from the last school open day sale for 50cents and found that there's an extra one called South Australia.
Only thing to distinguish it is a place named after some old queen or something (no, wait that's a State) well anyway Adelaide lives there so we'd better keep it.
Cripes, all the cold ones are gone, time for a Bex and a lie down.

Honestly - if you want to cheat, I'm not sure we'd want you as a fellow citizen. The knowledge requirements are well documented in the paperwork sent to prepare you to apply for citizenship. It is not that difficult. Study a little, learn about Australia and you'll have no trouble.

Can't be bothered? Sorry - Best go home.
