Did you know Australia is running out of water?

The government says it is just a long drought, however if something is not done, we will be desperate within a year

Growing crops purely for export e.g. almonds, is using our precious commodity and if Aussies don't unite and demand answers, we are going to be in a lot of trouble.

Do you understand the situation and have any idea what we can do to let the government know they can't sit on their hands and do nothing.

We are facing a problem of such magnitude that could make us all move out.
Of course the government won't admit changes need to be made because they put the almighty dollar ahead of the good of the people.
We grow many crops for export, which has to stop.
Lot fed beef is a great export that is treasured in many countries because we are the only country that is disease free.
Here is a link which shows the amount of water needed to feed these poor animals.

My suggestion is to lobby the government and petition for changes to be made in the interests of survival. This is not just a drought and we cant wait for rain anymore.
Thanks for asking this question.
Many people don't realise how bad things are.

the government has known this problem for years they building dams in the wrong locations spending money on Indonesia etc etc.and line their own pockets.the voters are just their slaves they do not care what your opinion or anybody else . it is sad only way to get true to them is mass protests to show them to get of their big butts

This is not a drought. A drought comes along every few years and then the rains come back - ask anyone who has worked on the land for many years.

This is climate change and is here to stay.

Every scientist in the world agrees but little Johnny and his master Mr. Bush disagree and have their heads buried in the sand. We need to get rid of this clown and vote in a government who cares about the environment.

Also....growing crops like almonds and rice is certainly a problem but the bigger problem is removing all the old growth forests that traditionally allowed the water to seep into the ground. With the trees gone the water just runs off now.

We are in serious trouble and it's just getting worse.

However there are alot of lies going around about it aswell.... the government lies about dam levels for some reason..... and I have proof.... to long to present here but if anyone wants it email me at ngerald@hotmail.com

I fully understand, I work for a water authority in Australia. I think the government does know exactly what's going on and as they do...they will wait until the last minute. there are water restrictions in place currently which are about to move to stage 2. People are very water conscious because water usage dramatically dropped in Victoria along with other states when Bracksy made it clear we low on water.

It's going to be the worst drought in history and unfortunately it's going to get worse in the years to come as global warming continues which plays havoc with the weather.

It might sound strange to most but I have a strong feeling that at some point or another (might not be for a couple of years but hopefully sooner) the weather will turn the other way during a month of summer and rain continuously for a month. It's not impossible. What is happening currently was said it was impossible 10 years ago. Harvest food in particular will double in price as the farmers struggle on with the drought.

Within our water authority we have water forecasters and planners that work with others, they come up with solutions for the future. EVERYBODY needs to get in on the water saving act now and we can conserve. It's Gods call - pray for rain. Sustainability is the answer to this!

Yes I did. Drought is everywhere, plus the bush fire happens very often.
