That's never happened to me, if it did it wouldn't bother me at all. |

It very rarely happens... wouldn't be offended at all if it did though. You wouldn't get the violent reaction you get from asking a Canadian what part of the States their from. Despite the sheep jokes and football bickering we Aussies and Kiwis are kindred spirits deep down. |

Not at all. Australians and New Zealanders are very similar in many ways. I'm Australian and have gone to New Zealand and often the accent is very similar, sometimes even we can't tell at all. |

I am an Australian living in London and I get mistaken for a Kiwi all the time and it doesn't offend me at all! But the people always feel so bad when they get it wrong, like I'm going to get angry at them or something! |

I am an Aussie and I don't get offended at all.
Why would I? Kiwis are great!
Don't believe everything you see on "Flight of the Conchords" :) |

It has never happened to me!! I usually get asked what part of England I am from (never even been there!!) |

I suppose they would but the reverse is more common. I have mistaken an Aussie for a Brit and that did not go over at all.
People get touchy about nationality. |

As a Kiwi living in Oz married to an aussie I can tell you he doesn't mind at all. In fact he more often gets asked if he is a Pom. Look Aussies and Kiwis are both amazing people and if they are worried about such an insignificant thing then they have too much time on their hands. Some Aussies will complain but its all good fun and accepted in good grace. |

It would be very hard to mistake the two as Aussies have a different accent from the Kiwis |

not really.
I suppose its a bit like Americans and Canadians. Only those people can really tell the difference between the accents (unless you are like me and know a few Amricans and Canadians lol)
So to most forigners, Aussies and Kiwis can sound the same. SO if one was to ask if I was a kiwi, I wouldnt mind. I was once asked if I was from Denmark!
Of course, most Aussies and Kiwis can tell the difference between us (in the accent)
It really depends who you are - but I wouldnt mind if someone asked that innicent question |

It happens more the other way. New Zealanders get called Australian.
It's the same overseas, Canadians often get called Americans.
We might think the person is an idiot but I generally wouldn't take offense unless it was done in an insulting manner. |
