Do Australians get the show, "The Simpsons" down under?

And, if so, does it seem funny to you?
I'm asking because well over half the jokes are inside jokes and topical (American) humor I would imagine.
Anyway, just curious.

Do we ever! Australians are extremely well acquainted with US culture and yes, we do get the jokes.

The Simpsons is my 14 y o son's favourite show, and he also loves Two and a half men. My favourite US comedy is Seinfeld.

We also appreciate British humour such as the Goon Show, Monty Python, and Fawlty Towers.

Have you seen Kath & Kim or Summer Heights High? There's plenty of great comedians in Australia too.

The Mouse II
No - we don't have TV in Australia. We are so backward here we don't even yet have access to the internet.

(And if you get offended by this answer then you are NOT ready to come here and receive our sarcastic humour)

Cheers

Yes we get it, and my son and I watch every episode. I even took him to opening night of the Simpson's movie. We get the jokes, well I get them all and gets all the ones he should @ 10 years old. I think a lot of Australians find the jokes even funnier when Homer does something really "American". Some families bond over the dinner table, or books, my son and I bonded over the Simpsons.

Yes We Do. If you have pay TV here you can get it all day almost on one channel. We get the humour but I personally dont like the show.Watch for Kath and Kim coming to your Country in the near future they are doing an American version of this popular Aussie show and it will be interesting to see if you get our humour. Good Question.

Bardy
Unfortuatelly, yes we do.

Yes lol, we definatley do get the show the simpsons here.
It is probably the most popular comedy with the young kids/ teens - along with family guy, futurama etc.
We get the jokes as we have grown accustomed too the american humor via movies and the tv shows available too us.
We arent as backward as people think!

Elizabeth
Yes, we do and we get the humour too.

Yes, they do have it on tv. I watched it at times when I visited the country. I'm from Germany and we also have it on tv - translated completely in German. So all the characters have their own voices and it's very well made. We also understand these jokes although most of them are somehow rather stupid and so we only can roll our eyes saying "oh my goodness!"

YES!! Im watching it right now!! its on a channel ten. i find it funny. its on every weekday at 6pm.

Dan
Yes, we get it in Australia on Network TEN.

I love it! Their jokes make me crack up every time I hear it even though I've heard them many times.

Haha! Good question here! Have a star :)
