Do Australians welcome migrants?
I want to immigrate to Australia, as a skilled worker. The government and employers seem to be so welcoming. But my question is about the public, are they happy with legal migration? do Australians encourage migrants to work and study with them?
Well, I do and my family does. Majority of our friends are from other countries. My family ancestry goes back about 6 generations in Australia and I have 6 different nationalites in my blood.
Most Aussies believe in giving someone "a fair go". Embrace the community and they will embrace you.
We need skilled workers. One school my children went to had 52 different nationalies in it and we once had a school dinner for students and family and each family bought their favourite dish. That night was wonderful. everyone joined in.
So come on, pack ya bag and head on over. Good luck.

Of course... Australia is an extremely multi-cultural country. You'll be treated the same as you were at home in Australia. Just like an average person. Even more so if you are quite good at your job.
Without migrants, Australia would be nothing.

The modern Australia is open minded to most ethnic cultures. The average aussie loves the battler and those willing to embrace the Aussie flag and it's way of life. Our culture is to help those wanting to help themselves and to blend in with this Aussie way.
But those who chose to come to Australia to "Bag" it's way of life and it's people and want to change Australia to 'the mother country' have a hard slog ahead of them.
Respect the helper and the helper will respect you..... !!!
Follow this simple advise and you will be fair dinkum in no time cobber! ( slang for you will be alright)

Yes we do welcome migrants, in fact I think the figure is about 1 in 5 people living permanently in Australia were born elsewhere, the highest proportion in the world. Migrants are the norm, and they come from pretty much anywhere and everywhere.

sure do!!

They are welcome to come to Australia as long as you guys don't get into gangs and start causing trouble for the rest of us. I think if migrants come over and cause trouble they should be kicked out and sent back home.

Australia is very multicultural. Everyone can blend in very well as a whole. Without migrants, Australia will not be how it is today - it is them who shaped our country.
Australians, generally are friendly and are in good spirits most the time.

Generally speaking migrants are welcome here, but depending on where you come from, what you look like, what line of work you are in and where you end up working, you may be hassled by a racist or a bully. Just like in any country we have a small minority of racists. However we do have laws and a cutlure to stamp this behaviour out so if it does happen to you, you can get good help.
