Hi There,

I am by no means an expert .......... But was watching the BBC One programme 'Wanted Down Under' only this morning . They were explaining the 'In's & Out's of getting a visa & Job in Australia. They did say the 'cut-off' point for Visa applications were 45 ( Sorry) , however, as I said I'm no expert , just repeating what was said on a TV programme.
I hope I'm wrong or there are exceptions & I wish you all the best

Looks like you missed the boat this time with your age ... however you could always attend the Expo-Australia coming up and see what other options are available to you ....
http://www.expo-australia.com

.... you could always try New Zealand, once you gain citizenship there, move over to Australia, you don't need any extra paperwork, visa's etc for that. http://www.immigration.govt.nz and expo - http://www.expo-newzealand.com/

tuppenybitz
the cutoff for skilled worker immigration is 45,you need to pass a point system test, but it will be hard as your nor your partner will get points for age category

you can take a example point system test on line to see how many points you will get

I'm not really sure, but I could give you this link: http://www.nationalvisas.com.au/. This online service helps people wanting to travel and migrate to Australia. Their agents will help you acquire a visa for Australia, take a free online assessment. =)

45 cuts it off unless you are a VERY highly skilled AND qualified person with a job offer - in other words, a company has head-hunted you.

ANA
Under the skilled points systems you have to be under 45. However there are other options. You can try to get an employer to sponser you if you have relevant skills that Australia wants. Check out www.immi.gov.au
Under whats new" there look at the expo 15-16 March 2008 in London, and you need to registerAlso look under Visas. These expos are good, as you can talk to people and get to understand the system and which visas you may be eligible for. It is very difficult if you are over 45 but can be done if you have the right skills and an employer to sponsor you.
There is a shortage of nurses, doctors, teachers andpolice
so if in these professions it can help

I was going to answer this question, but Havianni has said it all before me.

Jon
sorry 45 is the cut off. unless you have a certian amount in your bank account, but you have to have a fair bit.

It is possible...there are many different types of work visas, but there are many things that will affect your migration. You'll want to look at this website: www.australia-migration.com and also call an Australian embassy. Good Luck!
