It also depending on the type of work you plan to do, how long you plan to stay etc. You should not travel until your visa has been granted or you will be turned away on arrival

If you are under 30, you can get a one year working holiday visa which allows you to work in one job for up six months at a time and this visa can sometimes be extended to 2 years if you are prepared to do fruit picking or similar task for 3 months of your first year.

Another commonly used visa to look into is a 457 visa. This is a temporary visa usually issued for up to 4 years and requires company sponsorship. To obtain one of there visas you need to have a job at a company willing to sponsor you, an occupation on the list of skills required and be earning over a certain amount (about AUD$58,000 currently)

You can get more information here:

A passport is whats needed to get on the plane and leave your country. A visa is what the country you are visiting issues saying that you are ok to enter. You need both to enter Australia. Make sure if you plan to work you get a work visa not a tourist visa. If you have a tourist visa and they don't think you have enough money to stay in Australia without working they may deny you entry which means you will be flown home immediately.

You will need both
More info see http://www.workingin-australia.com

you cant just rock up and expect to work
you need a work visa, and these are very hard to get.
if your between the age 18-30 you can apply or a working holiday visa

if you want to live in Australia longer than the visa permits you must apply to immigrate and this is even harder to get

so if your coming for a short visit and want to work you need a visitor visa and a work visa or a 12 working holiday visa

and everyone in the world needs a passport to travel outside there country, the difference between a passport and a visa is.........passport is a travel document to allow you to travel to other countries,a work visa allows you to work in a foreign country

Yes, you do! You need both in order to visit, stay and work in Australia. Your working visa depends on what type of work you want.

If you're visiting to work for a short period of time (like 12 months), what you need is a working holiday visa. But if you would like to permanently work (and live) in Australia, you must apply for a skilled working visa. You can check info about the requirements on skilled visas here: http://www.nationalvisas.com.au/skilled/skilledvisas.htm

J just like the other peeps said you need to have a passport and work visa to make some cash legally in Australia. With that said some peeps do work cash in hand jobs over there. Depending on you it can be pulled off. I would say do it the right way. You can get a work visa to work/travel Australia for 4 months at bunac.org if you are under 30. I did the program 3 times.

I worked up in Surfers Paradise which is easy to get jobs during the Aussie Summer. If you want cash work you can get it. But if you want a proper job than you need that visa.

Yes you need a work permit.

A passport will allow you to visit as a tourist and you can stay for up to 90 days. Very similar to the US Waiver system.

You may be able to get a student visa which allows limited work opportunities for a limited period. Without knowing your age I can only suggest you contact the nearest Australian Embassy for details.

you will need a visa too to work

passport just grants you access between countries and proves your identity

a visa gives you permission to do other things depending on the country
you need a visa to just go on holiday in some countries
and one in almost all countries to work

im not sure about australia but i know that it has a VERY strict immigration control so im guessing you will need one
