Actually Kangaroos do roam some streets around Canberra granted they tend to be near bush areas. There are kangaroos on golf courses quite frequently. I've seen kangaroos on the front lawn areas of some government buildings. Roos try to avoid being on a road generally |

I don't think they roam the streets. But can you see them in the wild, or are they like deer here, everywhere but only come out at night |

No, no one thinks this..
Except you of course who apparently believes they do.
Do Australians think that while driving around in Dallas TX
that the streets are going to have heards of longhorn cattle
roaming around ?...Of course not....
Last , but not least, when I was working in northern WA around
Mt. Tom Price, King Bay / Canarvan area, we had kangaroos
all over the roads and airstrips...This would have been around 1968 |

Of course not, people are not that stupid. But they sure need to be aware of stingrays in the sea now! (I'm sorry about the croc hunter...) |

I don't know why it would be so strange to expect or to see over there in certain areas, I know where I am from deer have been known to wander in to certain towns walking the streets, it's not like they really want to be there or anything they just get lost and confused and wind up there, in fact on one of the highways where I live you can see whole herds of them along the side of the highway |

I think that the myth is the same as packs of stray dogs wandering the streets of the UK..
I imagine it would still happen though in towns in the bush mind you...... |
