Do you get Mail on Saturday's in Australia?

An aquaintance from Australia is telling me that they receive mail on Staurday's in Australia. IN North America it's M-F.

Is this true?

No mail is delivered to your home on Saturdays although if you have a PO Box you still get mail on Saturdays.

No, mail is not delivered in Australia on Saturdays, except for just before Christmas when the postal service is very busy. However, some post offices are opening Saturdays now.

No!

Oh come on that was too easy. The only ways yes are - you forgot to check Friday's mail and grab it from your letterbox on Saturday (this method also works very well for Sunday :-)) or some couriers deliver on weekends but that's not the mail system.

Some post offices are open on Saturday morning but that's only if you have a parcel or registered mail.

Phew for a second there I thought I wasn't gonna have to work for the two points :-)

No, in australia we only get mail on weekdays. Although saturday papers are delivered to some people who ordered them.

Ditto to the answers above.
To be business like and progressive - some post office in big cities or in malls do open Saturdays now. But they don't call them "Pot Office" anymore. They are now called "Post Shop" as they also sell all sorts of things like office supplies, collectors coins, print photos machines etc.

Thanks for the two points.

We don't get any mail on Saturdays up here in Brisbane, Queensland, so I would think as Australia Post is a Nationwide company that no one does.

Elizabeth
No, we don't have home mail delivery on a Saturday. We only have once a day delivery Monday to Friday.

We do, however, have Saturday delivery on the two Saturdays prior to Christmas Day each year.

no aussie post mail but UNFORTUNATELY junk mail comes saturdays....

I get email 24/7

Ken E
Funny you should ask that. I saw the postman delivering mail on this Saturday morning here in Canberra. I thought it was a bit unusual. Normally it is only Monday - Friday, but it could be that the delivery person is on a contract. At least I think it was official mail but it could have been junk by someone riding an old postie bike. Haven't checked the mailbox since Friday - now you've got me wondering.

But Why??

No it was made illegal in 1972.
