Hello Rift
If by saying 'you are from the UK' you mean you are a UK passport holder and have the right to live in the UK permanently, then you do not require a visa to enter New Zealand as long as you comply with the following:
You intend only to holiday here
Your intended stay is for less than 6 months
You are holding a return ticket to the UK
You have sufficient money with you to support yourself while in NZ (this demonstrates that you do not intend to work illegally)
Your passport must have an expiry date more than 3 months beyond your intended date of leaving NZ
If you comply with the above, entry will be granted to you at NZ Immigration on your arrival here. Otherwise you will need to obtain a visa before you leave the UK. |

"British citizens and other British passport holders who produce evidence of the right to reside permanently in the UK can visit for up to six months without a visa"
Double check here for your specific passport:

Happy travelling! |

If you are an American all you need is a passport. Get it early though because it can take up to 4-8 weeks to get it processed. Good luck. If you are going to be working there for an extended period of time, then you should consult the New Zealand, Embassy, in america. Google the words. and call them. good luck. |
