I have to say that I do a fortnightly shop at Aldi then cross over and go to Coles. I really do think I save money at Aldi. I just love Aldi, and what we don't like we get from Coles. I find the staff at Aldi are fantastic so nice, and friendly and always ready for a chat. Whereas when I go over to coles the staff are always moody and rude and they're not terribly good at packing anyway. I love the fact that i can pack my own at Aldi. Instead of using 10 bags for a dozen or so items I use like 1 or sometimes 2 bags for a dozen items. The food. well sometimes is so so, but most of the time we love it. Also most of the food is mad in Australia with Australian products... so the packages say.
However I think you are better of trying them for yourself... Just because I love them doesn't mean you will... but then again just because someone else doesn't like them doesn't mean you won't. So I day just give it a shot. What's the worst thing that could happen? If you don't think you save money, or don't like the food or the staff then don't shop there anymore. Nothing ventured nothing gained!! Good luck! Oh and the Staff at Aldi Tuggerah rules!! The staff are excellent assets to Aldi and customer service in general.. |

I do a monthly stock up at Aldi, there are some bargains to be had and you can save a lot of money, but I still do a weekly shop at woolies for my favourite brands. The checkout experience is faster than other S/markets because as they checkout items you place them straight back into your trolley once you get use to their system it's great.
Negatives are grumpy overloaded staff due to under staffing, customer service is extinct. |

I love Aldi, the prices are the best, quality on the food is great, yes the service is almost non-existent but I don't mind because I'm saving a lot of money there.
BTW just the presence of Aldi in Australia forced the big supermarkets to drop their prices. |

Yeah, you can save money at Aldi on basic food items. You do have to pack your on food away but you save at least $60 per shop. There are some really good foods as well as bad.So it is trial end error. However,I still do shop at the major food outlets because I am fixated on some brands. |

we do the majority of the weekly shop at Aldi, the meat products we normally buy are a lot cheaper at Aldi and are better quality too, we've found the quality of almost all the foodstuffs are a lot higher although we don't buy friut and vege there as we get that grower direct. our only problem with it is the pet food available doesn't agree with our pets so we have to buy that elswhere, and the range of biodegradable and organic cleaning products is non existant |

A work mate does 90% of her weekly grocery shop at Aldi.
She says she saves at least $50 per week, often more, depending on the specials. She does compare prices, so she's probably right about that.
Her family consists of 2 adults and 3 primary school children.
Aldi have a majority of Australian grocery items these days, although they seem to be from smaller companies. (Which is a good thing.)
Very good quality fruit, vege and meat too.
I've tried quite a few things at my friends place and they are as good as anything from Woolies and Coles.
I'm seriously considering changing from Woolies to Aldi for some stuff.
She says it just takes a little time to get used to a different way of shopping and trying different brands. |

I don't do a weekly shop there but I'm fortunate to have an Aldi shop nearby and I call in a couple of times a week. There products are excellent many are well known brand s that are in the other supermarkets they are named differently for the Aldi shops . some products are from Germany , very good. I only buy selected products and save plenty one example is the milk much cheaper and purer than some milks they don't put that additive in like other brands. Yes I found a visit to Aldi well worth it but also shop for some items at Coles or Woolworths. |

A friend of mine does.... although he's a die hard bargain shopper and ends up buying heaps of stuff just because it's cheap... not because he needs it. I couldn't be bothered, I find the place creepy. |

If you are planning to shop at Aldi what you have to remember is that their food is 90% home brands. At Coles you know when you buy You'll Love Coles or Savings that is a home brand, but Aldi's own brands are all different labels. I would say that if you buy majority home brands then it would be the same price, and if you buy big brands like Arnotts and Dairy Farmers then Aldi doesn't sell them anyway so it isn't worth your time going there. Also Aldi has like a maximum of 2 checkouts open at a time and if you are only buying like a bottle of milk you have to wait for like 10 mins for people doing their big weekly shop before you get served |

I have , but its not worth it , you don't have the same range or quality as coles. You pack your own bags and staff are pricks . I had to take something back for a refund , but there was no customer service desk . I asked a checkout operator to help me , she said only the manager could help , and also said she couldn't contact the manager because she was busy ! WTF ? I ha dto find the manager walking around , he told me to fill out a refund form which he would send to head office who would then send me a refund ! It was $4.50
It is quite obvious Aldi do not want their customers to contact them at all |

I have never been interested in trying. Their catalogues are full of junk and no food. Do they even sell food anymore ?
Besides that I am not packing my own bags. That is what the checkout kids are paid to do. |

I have shopped at Aldi a few times when I visited my mother, as she lives in Brisbane and I in Rockhampton where there is no Aldi. I found the shopping terrible. They use imported second grade food and its not cheaper. You even have to pack your own groceries. The staff are rude but I expect that is because they have to put up with customers complaining all the time. Aldi Sucks. |
