I have no idea what eucalyptus leaves the other answerer's have eaten cause they are not giving you a correct answer.
USA money is the MOST accepted money worldwide.
You can walk into a supermarket and pay for your grocery items with American dollars in either New Zealand And Australia. You can also pay for your accommodation and rental car in American dollars.
.. but the obviously, is not everyone/store does this. If you are just going to buy a few items in any old store it is always best to change some USA dollars into Aussie dollars. |

No you can only use Australian Dollars when purchasing. The banks or money exchange centres will change it for you. |

You can use your american currency via credit card over the internet, otherwise, you can go to a bank and sell your currency for ours.
BTW, you'll get about $1.20 for every dollar at the moment.... |

Any sensible shopkeeper will let you pay the marked price for any large item using US currency. Your change will be paid in Australian dollars. Of course, you will be paying 20% extra for the privilege, but that's why we love American tourists so much. |

i doubt they accept US dollars..but if you are to change it, there will be fees charged...unlike some asia countries like singapore, malaysia, thailand, indonesia, they do not charged any fee if you changed it at the money changer but they do if you change it in the bank..so do take note... |

No, because we don't accept money that a mint makes by photocopying it. Too much fake American money, but Asians at flea markets will take anything |

No we don't. But the banks will change it at the current exchange rate. |

Sorry but you will have to change it. The good thing about changing it is that you will get more dollars back. |

I'll change it for you if you want to give me two thousand american dollars, I'll give you two thousand australian dollars ... haha ...
Just go to a bank and change it, or take out australian dollars at an ATM (cashpoint), as in every country, australia has it's own currency |

Not every country accepts US dollars and is totally Americanized. I'm afraid you must change your bucks.
And by the way, it's also "real" money what you get. |

No. American money is NOT legal tender here.
