It is hard to sing but I still get choked up whenever I hear it!

I'm not a big fan of our anthem regarding the song choice itself.

What it stands for however is something else entirely and I am VERY passionate where that is concerned!

When we had the vote for the National Anthem I didn't vote for Advance Australia Fair.
The majority of Australians did vote for it, so I have to like it or lump it. So I'll like it.

Advance Australia Fair has undergone heavy editing since Peter Dodds McCormick wrote the original in the 1870s.
For example: it used to start "Australia's sons let us rejoice".

There have only ever been 5 verses. There was said to be a 6th, missing, verse but that has been proven to be bogus.

Just as a matter of interest:
Why do some individuals, from a certain country, always think every question is all about them?

You have to look at when it was written. For that time it applied. I myself am proud of our national anthem. I think it is great.

I somewhat agree, but our song is powerful in that it's so varied in pitch (the singer has to have a wide range), and hence the lyrics don't matter so much, but rather, the singer needs to have enough power to belt out the top and the bottom of the song - so our anthem's pretty powerful!

there are actually over 20 versus to Advance Australia Fair however we normally only sing 2 or 3....

I definitely disagree with that one guy. I love Canada's Anthem, my friend sings it all the time when he's drunk. Kinda makes me wonder why he's not irish. I've heard australia's before, and it does sort of suck, but it's australia. You have some of the most deadly snakes and spiders anywhere. I'd be complaining about that.

I think all national anthems are meaningless due to the huge movement of peoples around the globe - a national anthem should only be meaningful to true nationalists.
