Winter time and high up on the mountains.....
Sometimes its cold enough to settle down on the ground ( sea-level).....but mostly up higher...( which is where the ski-fields are)........also did you know those same mountains were filmed in " Lord of The Rings !!
Right now its summer and ohhhhh so hot....not a snowflake in sight........

frantic
It snows on Mt Ruapahu in the North Island and Mt Egmont in the north island - lots of skiiing at the former. I have lived in Christchurch and experienced snow for three days - but this is not usual. Even Dunedin, freezing place that it is, doesn't really have snow I don't think. Queenstown has snow and is near the most popular snow fields. But if you are referring to main cities, no, not really. Certainly not in Auckland, you just get rain here, rain, rain and more rain. Time to send it to Australia.

Noone i
Sure, there are ski hills there, I skiied there when I was there years back.

Yes it snows in NZ. However, it does not snow in all parts of the country. Higher Altitude places and places on the South Island and central North Island are more likely to snow. Apart from a few places on the north Island (Mt Ruapehu, National Park and Waiouru areas, Wairarapa and the Mountains) it snows more in the South Island than the North.

But Why??
no, its just a myth.
