Well, in an ideal world, no, but should you decide to return at to this country at some point in the future you will be liable for tax. The system is set up so that it is very hard for people to leave the country and return at a later date without some form of penalty.

You may be entitled to some sort of rebate depending when you go during the tax year. Also consider whether you will keep any assets that are earning something for you while away ( e.g. bank interest ) : if "yes" then provided you are in the UK for fewer than 90 days ( I think ) you may be able to claim back any deducted tax - and what about all your pension accumulated so far ? The pension dept for this is in Newcastle ( I confess I found their answers to my questions fairly incomprehensible - so good luck !)

No, but beware if you want to come back for a visit, he can clobber you then big time............

I would just like to add that you will not be cheating the taxman (as he has no money) but "us" taxpayers!!!

Richie620
No the tax men will

browneyed
only if you owe him money

Proud to be an AMERICAN
If you are super-rich and leaving the US, there is a law that essentially treats you as if you had died, so they can collect the estate tax now.

Other countries may have currency control restrictions.

That's all I know.

Emigrating?

Huh?

Which taxman? If you are trying to get around paying tax in Australia the "taxman" will know that you have left the country but that won't stop them trying to get tax payments out of you!

No, but if you have any property or financial interests in your current country that will be earning you any income no matter how small, you will need to file yearly taxes.
I didn't know that and I was slammed with taxes when I made an exquiry. You will need to have your accountant enter you as a "non resident" when filing taxes. If you have no financial interests in your current country, just go and don't look back.

NO - F*CK HIM.
