I lie awake thinking about this ALL the time.

I reckon if everyone in Australia gets into the sea around the NSW south coast, holds on to the bottoms, and kicks; I reckon we could probably push the whole country across the Indian Ocean.

I reckon we'd want to pull up about 200k from Africa, that way you'd still have an Indian ocean. Think of the fuel the airlines would save ! (Of course, trips to America would be longer...)

Ausralia is close to New Zealand and to Asia, have a look at the map Where is America close to?

We prefer it that way, for normal life, when we travel this is why we stay away for longer, as it takes so long to get anywhere.
realistically tho, with air travel getting faster all the time, its only 16 hours to the usa.

That's what makes Australians so well-traveled! We are brought up thinking about how we want to discover the rest of the world, unlike Americans. In another sense, it offers us an advantage in that we have never been successfully invaded because of our large expanse of coastline and desert in the middle, as someone has already said, we're also really not that far!!!!

No it doesn't really bother me. I mean the cost of it kind of pi**es me off, but even then we can get some great deals on flights.

Songbird1979
It sure bothers me, given the cost of airtickets everywhere! Drives me batty!

im personally quite happy that we are far enough away from America, because our culture is becoming too American when we have our own culture that we should preserve.

?
No, it's great. It keeps a lot of unwanted people away.

Yes, it bothers me.

It's expensive to travel abroad, therefore I cannot go visit family in South Africa often enough..

We should all push it towards America! (well obviously for me it'll be better to push it towards Africa).
