The only thing i complain about is the cost of Education but really it is a small price to pay for the other benifits. As for Spiders snakes etc you have more chance of being hit by a bus

To me there is no downsides living in Australia apart from the crocs!

If you want to know more about living here and help with working in Australia see the expo coming up in a few weeks in the UK - http://www.expo-australia.com

There are some significant downsides, but most relate to your circumstances rather than Australia.

1. You will most probably be leaving the bulk of your family behind
2. Travel from/to the UK is not going to be as cheap as it has been in the recent past. So add a few kids fares and you are looking at a significant investment for a trip
3. Housing costs are not necessarily cheaper; its relative to where you are from and where you plan to live. Its essential for your sanity that you research these things properly before you make the jump.
4. It is different here. Not as different as say the USA or Pakistan, but definitely different. Accept the differences and work with, rather than against them. Do not continually relate "how we did this back home", it will upset the fragile egos (they are not all hunky bush types these days, lots of limp wristed, but not necessarily bent sorts about).
5. Don't worry about all this urge to apologise to all and sundry, its a passing phase.

I doubt you will regret it if you plan and prepare.
