Fellow Aussies, since water restrictions are in most of the country are u having shorter showers?

i mean have you scaled back your time in the shower or are you still enjoying long hot showers,or maybe even, having long showers but telling others you now have shorter showers-so your not frowned at?

I live in Newcastle where there's no water restrictions and we're still cutting back our showers. I'm aiming for 2 mins so that my partner can have 2min longer showers since I work in an office and he's a mechanic he needs more time than me. I figure if everyone else is running out of water it'll only be a matter of time before we do so start saving now...

Beanie
No i havnt really tho i should- i do think tho that is is an issue and we shouldnt take water for granted!!! One day we will run out- unless somethin massive changes in the rainfall!!! Like a flood!! Lol Yeah i dont actually shower shorter just think we should- but showers i dont think are the main issue- its idiots who waer the lawn- i mean we live in australia here- how can we have nice lawn- its just not practicle for our climate!!! Gawd !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAKE UP PEOPLE WHO WATER THERE STUPID LAWN

happyprecious
Yes we often combine the kids showers now too to get double the cleaning done in the same time. (don't worry they are younger children).
Also to help save water we have buckets to fill up the cold water (you know the stuff that comes out while you are waiting for the hot water to kick in) and trasport those to the toilet where we use it to flush instead of watching it go down the drain. Just a water saving tip for you.
With showers timers are the way to go.

Although I can't wait till I can wash my car again and the kids can play under the sprinkler like I did as a child in the summer.

I take short showers, unless i have to wash my hair which is long, so that takes extra minutes. I will miss my long hot showers especially in the mornings now its winter, that is not going to be good.

NO!!!
The water restriction is one of the most stupid thing.
What they should do is stop growing cotton and rice, as they're 40% of the water usage!

The_Mouse
I do (I don't normally have long showers anyway) - but I am sure many people don't and DON'T care.

Our society have no concept of living in a condition where SURVIVAL is paramount (for example - living in a desert with little resources and NO modern amenities). Until that time comes along, people will be apathetic and selfish.

I am as quick as possible - on the other hand I still shave in the shower.

burning brightly
I have cut my showers down to one each second day and then only for 2 minutes and I am so clean and smell fresh as a daisy.~~

arrabella
My boyfriend thinks its totally acceptable to have a surf every day as opposed to a proper shower which he has under suffrance when I make him. I on the other hand would love a long shower but live on the Gold Coast where we have all been given shower timers and I would really feel awful if I had one for too long...although a lot of people here are mad about it because our dam is at 70% at the moment.

waddamulli
no - not where I live in australia - far north Qld has plenty of water - water water everywhere
all the creeks/rivers/streams run daily out into THE OCEAN
all the dams are full
no water restrictions up here
it rains rains rains - when it rains it pours
can hose the car, water the lawn, have long showers
thats why they call it THE GREAT GREEN WAY
its green alright and not just from sugar cane or banana farms

waltzsingmatilda2
Hi, we are convicts here, but we did not inherert the Pommy way when it comes to washing.
We shower at least twice a day.
NOT every Saturday night.

Shimmer
I've never understood half hour showers anyway. I shower twice a day but unless I wash my hair (once or twice a week max.) I usually only take 2-3 minutes at the most.
I think it's a slight conspiracy all the same...but having said that it's wrong to waste. We're really spoilt to have running water, electricity and other luxuries- and I don't take that for granted.
As for telling people stuff...I think people are becoming weird with all that! They shouldn't try to pretend anything....if you don't feel good about what you're doing shut up and change it. hahha

renclrk
The radio station here plays 4 minute songs to shower by!

purplebuggy
I haven't changed, bad I know but I figure that every couple of months I have to restrict my time to half the recommended cut-back time so I even out in the end...

miss_cass_3
Nope, not trying any harder, and not embarassed to admit it either. Its like the lightbulb initiative- yeah thats gonna make a huge diff- not. Why not take a look at industry, the biggest polluter/ water waster/ energy waster. No point saving 5L a day when they waste 5 million.

gobias
i have'nt changed a thing, nobody cares about it anyway, the only people that would frown down on others are the middle aged single mothers that write into the herald sun editorial LMFAO
