Fellow Australians, do you have problems with Aboriginal people? |
I personally don't get it, I love them.
I think we all need to stop hating on our Indigenous Australians and focus our attention on other "groups" causing problems. What do you all think about this?? |

I don't have problem with their skin colour or race or anything, I have problems with the way the behave.
I hate to sound so mean but they need to get over their land being taken because the white people who actually took the land are long dead. They just complain ad take the governments money. Yes, they are discriminated against by many people but so what get over it who ISN'T discriminated against for some reason?
And no offense to them I don't meant to sound so judgemental but they make a bad name for themselves then complain when people get the wrong idea about them. Even the new generations who haven't been discriminated against are raised to hate white people but then complain when white people get pissed off.
I may be wrong and you can give my the thumbs down thing as much as you want but this is my opinion.
I've had many asian friends in the past and they are such lovely people, but truth be told I resent most australian asians because of the way the take up entire suburbs to themselves and form their own communities, then just be mean and dont even learn english.
It'sthe same with any race, I dont dislike or judge them on their race i judge them on the way they act. It would be like if I said hi to a black person and they hatedme because they assumed because of my skin that im a nazi or kkk. I do judge races of peple in general bt I dont judge individuals based on my opinion of their race.
anyway this is turning into something else lol. |

I do not have a problem with Aboriginal people at all. However, there is a problem with the support services because it simply does not meet their needs.I am not sure what other groups you are referring to. |

It is terrible to think anyone hates indigenous Australians. I like people based on their merits, anyone who dislikes a person for their ethnicity has a serious problem.
As for targeting "groups", I hope you are not referring to people of other ethnicities! Now that would be racist!
I think the government needs to do more for Indigenous Australians who are unfortunately living in third world conditions in a first world country. Our history off ill treatment of Aboriginals is a disgrace and something that as an Australian I feel very ashamed. I am saddened that money is not spent to undo the damage that our forebears created.
I can't believe that the Victorian government spent $60 million dollars plus on a stupid ferris wheel when people in our country don't even have adequate health care!
Thanks for this question it allowed me to vent. I wish we could all get a long and help each other regardless of race or country of origin!
Oh and Karli, you are very wrong, not enough money has been "poured in" and are you suggesting that one race is more "evolved than another". I have been to the Northern territory. I can not believe you said "evolved enough to tolerate" You are so very un educated and backward |

I think everyone just needs to forget about their differences...
i'm aboriginal and if anyone should have problems with people it should be me...
every body talks about aboriginal people causing problems, but everyone else has no idea what we go through everyday...

Well I am with you. In fact my man is Aboriginal and I'm white.
Bottom line though - there is always going to be racism in our own nation and worldwide, it will never go away unfortunately. |

In response to mittens saying the Vic govt spend $60 mill on the ferris wheel...over time, that money will be made back from people spending money to go on the ride, and then after than, profits will be made, which will be poured back into the system, hence, it is an investment.
Back to the actually question asked though...Australia is extremely multicultural today, Aboriginals were first here, then settlers came over and in 100 years Aus has changed dramatically. Has it improved? That depends on the lifestyle preferred by each individual. Unfortunately, Aboriginals were taken away many of their rights from the Govt, weren't able to earn a full wage, weren't able to access specific parts of Aus meaning they couldn't visit family, Aboriginal Elders weren't able to receive the pension, many, many rights they didn't have which white Australian's did. Now is a matter of time to restore all of these problems and give them the full citizenship status that other Australian's have. This should mean that they wont live in as much poverty as what they have experienced for too long. However, some Aboriginals choose to have their way of life, and don't want assistance from the Govt. They should have this right too.
There are many "groups" that may be considered to cause problems in Australia, many Chinese, Indian's, and so forth.
As a multicultural place, Australia must be willing and able to attend to the needs and wants of all people living here, and create peace to the best possible extent. |

I do not see an aboriginal person from one month's end to the next. I can't remember the last time I saw one in this town.
I do not know anyone who "hates on" aboriginal people, but I do know people who do not have much time for them in general, though they are willing to make individual exceptions. These people are not without some experience.
My father was in a church group that provided housing. He eventually gave it away as they had so much trouble. I have heard stuff from teachers and nurses too, and while I'd take some of the stories with a grain of salt, they are probably not all inventing everything.
There are more than two sides to every story. My attitude is reserved in this matter. |

I lived in Darwin for 30 years and 95 % of my friends are aboriginal and they are some of the nicest people I have ever met |

Believe me they are causing problems but that is not all thier fault. We have only taken over thier way of life and self sufficiency. We have changes all the rules and introduced substances that they have not evolved enough to tolerate. Have you ever visited and aboriginal community in the Northern Teritory?? |
