For those who live in Austrialia!?

Hey -- I'm a teenager and I'm going to Austrlia for a year.. I was just wondering about drinking there. Do people frown upon it or what? Cause I know in other countries teens just walk in to clubs and can buy it in the stores.. So I was just wondering how it is there? Because I do like to go out and party and will be very dissapointed if my year is not filled with that.

drinking is a big part of the Aussie culture and the legal age is 18,that is to buy it and to enter night clubs and to drink in pubs, but let me just say if you are younger than this don't stress Australia has a huge problem with underage drinking so you'll have no worries getting your hand on some good booze and if you look a bit older than you are you may get in the clubs to-not that I'm advocating underage drinking just giving you the facts so PARTY on.

The rule is that you have to be 18 before bars or clubs will sell you alcoholic drinks. So if you're younger, you're out of luck.

Legal at 18

Not really frowned upon, cultural thing

We Aussies love our booze. There's plenty of bars, pubs and clubs around, but you need to be 18 or over to enjoy it.

in australia, the legal drinking age is 18 to buy alcohol and go in to clubs and pubs.... a lot of under 18's do enjoy a drink too though and when i was at school there were parties nearly every weekend... sometimes i would be served at bottle shops when i was under 18 (this is against the law though) and othertimes i would get someone else to buy alcohol for me.... clubs and some pubs can be very strict and have bouncers at the door and they check your ID

Unless your over 18. If your looking to get yourself smashed every night and are under 18, your outta luck!

lol. legal age to purchase alcohol in Australia is 18 years. If you are younger, then no drinkies for you! If you are older then you will indeed be happy. Further, nightclubs wont let you in unless your are at least 18years, smoking age is also 18 i think or is that now 17...... (smoking is ridiculous anyway). Hope that helps as to your entertainment options once you arrive - there are other things to do though.....lol.
