Going to Austrailia and Auckland in June08 but i understand it is their winter. Whats the weather really like?

Is it still hot or does it get really cold?
Booked to go to Sydney and Auckland as part of a round the world trip but i'm now considering spending more time up in Queensland if the sun aint too good in Sydney/Auckland that time of year.
Also any tips on things to do in either place?
(staying 7 nights in each!)
Thank you

Sydney in June will be chilly. We don't get cold enough for snow but you will need a light jacket especially if you are coming from somewhere warm. It will still be nice enough to get out and about, but not beach weather.

LADY WITH AN ATTITUDE
just come from Auckland and you are going to love it there especially if you are going in june 08 but make sure you take a nice warm jumper and a nice warm jacket coz it will be freezing in june. It is very green and a very beautiful country side over in New Zealand and the people are so friendly. Enjoy yourself.

The weather in temperate Australia is quite changeable throughout the year, with an average temperature of around 30 degrees Celsius in the summer, and cool to cold winters with an average temperature of around 15 degrees Celsius. However, the temperature in Australia changes: It ranges between highs of 50 degrees Celsius to lows of sub-zero temperatures.
Winter in Auckland occurs during June, July, and August.
Winter averages a high of 15ºC (59ºF) and a low of 9ºC (48ºF)

Australia is spelt with only one "i". The climate ranges from tropical humid, tropical arid through Mediterranean to cool temperate with some alpine regions. This is because it is a very big country. Sydney, for all it's pretences, is not Australia.

Auckland is built on a narrow peninsula with the Tasman Sea (part of the Pacific Ocean) on the western side and the Pacific Ocean on the other. This gives it an oceanic climate. It will not be very cold in Auckland in winter, (not like say Minnesota) but it will be damp or at least humid. Do not expect snow or even much in the way of frost.

I lived near Sydney for a while. The weather there in the winter is very similar to the weather in San Francisco and the surrounding areas. All in all, it'll still be somewhat sunny and nice. Queensland is definitely more tropical.
