Going to Australia soon with Qantas. Are they reliable after recent incidents?

Qantas is still the safest and best airline in the world.

There was really only one significant incident and that was handled very well by a highly trained and expert pilot and the aircraft landed safely. The other reports were of minor glitches that have been blown out of all proportion by the media doing its usual scaremongering and were things that would probably have been ignored by many other airlines. Aircraft are hugely complex machines with little things happening all the time and you wouldn't ever even hear about them if the airline wasn't one obsessed with safety. I know what type of airline I'd be happier flying with!

The "incidents" you are hearing about (apart from the oxygen bottle explosion) are the sort of standard things that happen to all airlines, every day. Most of the time that a flight is delayed it is because of minor mechanical problems such as those we are hearing about. The only difference is that our lazy, brain dead media have got all excited for a while. They will calm down soon.

Most of the recent incidents are things that happen to all airlines occasionally. My tinfoil hat says that the reason we are hearing so much about them is because the engineers are after a pay rise and more secure jobs.

Qantas is great but bring a parachute just in case.

First of all, they did have a crash. The actually had quite a few. I think there isn't much difference between the major airlines.

If they would let white Australian engineers maintain the planes instead of thoughtless Malaysians we would be a lot safer!!!

I have flown with them they are fine. Enjoy.

There has been a spait of mechanical incedents lately but Im sure they are all highlited by one major incedent a few weeks ago. No one was hurt and the plane landed safely though. Im sure there are alot of "small incedences" that happen on a daily basis but never hear about them.
I think you will be fine.

They've never had a crash.They have a very high standard of safety.My son flew to Sydney from Heathrow with them.All went well.

They have the best safety record going, just make sure they shut all the doors

These 'incidents' have always happened, just they never publicised them before. Qantas have got one of the best safety records for international and domestic flights. You will be fine, even with these incidents no one has been injured they were only mechanical.
