Defo pay a visit to Milford Sound - it's spectacular, you can take a cruise along it and spend the night on the boat, you see waterfalls five times higher than Niagara.
Take a heli-tour up Franz Josef or Fox Glacier and have a walk around.
Take the Tranz-coastal train or the Tranz-alpine for some outstanding views!
Have dinner up the SkyTower in Auckland - the food's amazing and the restaurant revolves.
Snowboard in Queenstown (depending on when you're there)
Surf at one of the beaches up the North Island coasts
Go up to Cape Reinga - you can see where the Tasman and the Pacific actually meet!
Eat a some kai from a hangi.
You should definitley take a sail out to Whakaari - White Island it an active marine volcano - outstanding! They take small groups of people out - It's about 90kms off the coast of Whakatane. - The volcano stinks so bad - even worse than Rotorua.
Man - there is so much to do In New Zealand, it's amazing. I lived there a couple of years and came back to sunny Scotland last year. ENJOY!! |

Too much to list but one place not mentioned is the Catlins - bottom of the south island. Loved it - beautiful. |

Kia Ora! (Welcome.) North Island - You will probably fly into Auckland which is an attractive city - fine museum & a tower with wonderful views. Rotorua for Maori history & culture & natural hot springs. The north of the island (Bay of Islands) for encounters with dolphins. Wellington for Te Papa, the national museum.
South Island - Christchurch (the garden city.) One of the glaciers, Queenstown for adventure, 'Lord of the Rings' country, Mount Cook (helicoptor flight & landing.) Dunedin - Larnach Castle. Any guide book will give you ideas. If you do an escorted tour most tour companies follow very similar itineraries. Wherever you go you will enjoy yourself. |

The best way to get around NZ is definitly hiring a Camper Van. You can get some really nice ones for reasonable prices, and you can free park nearly everywhere (expect near some places in South Island).
You have the freedom to explore at your own pace, and have the thrill of waking up beside some of the most spectacular views in the world. Can't recommend it highly enough! |

Depends on how much time you have and what you like, and what time of year you are going. But in general the Southern Alps are great Queensland and Wanaka. Milord sound is worth a veiw and a trek if you are up for it. Its a great drive up the Eastern Cosast of the North Island- some really impresive coast roads. Aukland harbor is nice for some city time, and the forest in the NW of the northisland is like Yosemitie |
