Brisbane. The Gold Coast is a tacky tourist trap full of old people, screaming children, and drunken teenagers. So it has some theme parks - you can visit those, if you must, from Brisbane, it's only an hour away.

rozybb
Neither - I would choose the Sunshine Coast. Less hectic than Brisbane and there aren't half as many tourists as on the Gold Coast.

mareer
I'd go north to the Sunshine Coast. Cheaper, less touristy and great beaches.

Close to where I live now, half way in between :)
Its half the price of living in Brisbane or GC and you get the best of both worlds :D

Aquaadventure
The Gold Coast. In Brisbane is is no beach. Only an artificial one on the banks of the river at South Bank. But the Gold Coast has the best surfing beaches in the world and an open inhibited lifestyle.

mariemlm
brisbane - it is more a community orientated place unless you want to live in the G.C. and read street signs in other languages.
More diversified opportunities for education, employment, gov't agencies, hospitals, schools, social life.

Dreamer
gold coast coz i live here already and all my friends and my life is here, gold coast has awsome clubs pubs beaches shopping and the theme parks, brisbane is huge too city like for me
