Many times. In the state of Victoria, in the area known as Gippsland and the LaTrobe Valley- there have been numerous events of snow.
There are two small forest-industry towns called Orbost and Omeo which regularly have temperatures around 0 Celsius and below in winter.
Tasmania also frequently experiences snow at ground level- particularly in its capital city Hobart which is very close to a mountain range that is almost perpetually snow-capped. |

My Mum lived in Austrailia for 10 years when she was a child and she says they had snow in Melbourne one year. |

I think you mean at sea level rather than ground level. I am sure there has been snow at sea level in the southern parts of Australia but I have not seen any. I have seen frost and ice in Canberra but no snow (not sure how high Canberra is). There are ski resorts in the mountains so there is obviously snow at ground level. |

There are some really good Ski Resorts in Australia. Look in NSW and Victoria (Perisher Blue, Falls Creek, Mt Buffalo, Thredbo).
Have a look at http://www.skicentral.com/australia.html for a few ideas. |

Sometimes on the queensland/NSW border there is freaky weather and snow. Very very very rare, but it did happen about a month ago. |

I have. I am talking about ground level here. But this does not occur every year. Some year, and in only in some part of the south. it will snow enough for kids to go out and have real fun in it and for driving condition to be perfect for panel beaters.
Of course, we have snow in the mountains for real skiing and snow boarding and stuff. |

Of course it snows in the southern part of Australia in winter, which is summertime in the Northern Hemisphere. They even have a mountain range there by the name of "Snowy Mountains". |

Of course it snows in some parts of Australia and we have some very good ski resorts over here too.
How you can say that you love the country and then come up with a question such as this defies belief.
Your knowledge of geography seems to be limited to watching TV shows about either beaches on the Gold Coast or deserts in Western Australia. |

New South and Victoria have snow and some good ski resorts actually in a freak of nature snowed in Victoria a few week ago 40 degrees one day a week later snow. They are the only states to get snow worth mentioning. Queensland has had very light snow on the odd occasion. |
