Has Australia been turning away refugee boats again?

Probably yes. Australia, the last time I heard, had a truly appalling record on human rights for aboriginals and infant mortality rate for aboriginals was close to what you might see in Africa.

It wasn't so long ago that white Australians butchered aboriginals and stole their land. Now they seem to forget that the land they are living on is the land they stole from someone else!

Australia (amongst other countries) has turned places like Afghanistan and Iraq into very dangerous places and now has the nerve (amongst other countries) to say that these people are not legitimate refugees.

Britain, America and Australia has taken nowhere near as many refugees as Jordan.

Many of these refugees are legitimate. "We" have helped to turn many countries into extremely dangerous places to live. We have also helped to erode the ability of other countries to feed and support their own native populations. This will inevitably lead to many more refugees trying to just survive. Global warming, starvation and wars over water will inevitably lead to even more refugees. It harks back to the mass migrations of the Goths, The Vandals and other tribes around 1500 years ago in my opinion!

Do you mean the "refugees" who are, right this very minute, being freely provided with world class medical treatment in our hospitals for life threatening self-inflicted 3rd degree burns?

since they are refugees they should just go to the first country of safe point. Australia is definatly not the first country of safe point. Most Afghans will have to pass through Pakistan (safe point) teen fly in dodgy planes to Indonesia (safe point) or Malaysia (safe country) then their destination of choice Australia.

They are not refugees, they are illegal immigrants.

If you are a genuine refugee then you would be accepted into Australia. Those that try and come here illegally by boat are not.

no more than england searching trucks at the border to find illegal immigrants.
no more than USA and the border controls to stop illegal immigrants

we have the right to say who can apply for visa, many people wait a long time to be accepted, no one likes people that push in the line.

Australia legally has to take refugees. However! Refugees legally have to stop at the first safe country they reach! And Australia is CLEARLY not that, so Australia gets suspicious. I've not heard anything lately.

I do feel for the innocent people that war brings..However, the Australian Government would be very foolish too relax immigration laws and just allow people in.. I do feel that The Australian Govt has an obligation to the country's that they have invaded but believe that the govts obligation to the Aust People over-ride that and do feel that its not in Australias best interest to allow people in who feel it is there right to get on a boat and sail into Australian waters.. Australia like every country has its laws and they must be abided by.. I feel that Australia is helping and meeting its obligation in way of the work that the Australian Soldiers are doing in Afghanistan in helping to train the afghani soldiers and help them to get a sense of security in there own country..

They are queue jumpers who don't wait their turn and what annoys me the most about them is most are big strapping men who must leave their vulnerable families to fend for themselves because they rarely have women and children with them.

If Australia gets the same problems with refugees (majority are bogus only in UK to scrounge our money)as we do there will be nothing left for the honest Tax payers who do pay their way then they will have real problems.maybe then people will sympathise with a government who means business and wants whats best for its own people rather than just freeloaders.
