Well i live in Australia and i can tell you its a beautiful place in the country and near the Great Barrier Reef and tropical places like that. The cities are ok but that depends if your the city type. The people in the country are casual and calm very nice. The people in the city are busy and can be rude at times. Its all about location location! Up to you! |

Australia's a great place. Of course, it has it's bad spots, just like ever other country, but overall, the people are friendly, and easygoing. We've got everything from snowy alps,( though not in summer ), burning deserts, fantastic rain forests, the Great Barrier Reef, cosmopolitan cities, pristine beaches and really big rocks!!! |

hey!! im from australia!!! your sooo lucky if you go there its the best place in the world!! well actually i havent been to that many places in the world but i think its amazing and has anything and everything you'd ever want!!! i would suggest if you go to of course see sydney just because well its SYDNEY and theres sooo much to see and do there. but id also goto melbourne as its less like a big city and lots of artsy and cultural things to do, also really pretty parks and old mansions that you can look through. i would of course goto brisbane cairns and do the whole great barrier reef thing but lastly i would say goto newcastle and the hunter valley!!!! its just above syd only a 2-3hr train ride north and its got the BEST beaches!!!! and also great wineries!!
i love it soo much, the ppl are soooo nice and relaxed and just easy going.
im living in the US at the moment for foreign exchange and everyone here is always soo busy with sports, church etc etc and back home in OZ its just more laid back and fun like if i wake up on the weekend and its nice and hot well its off to the beach for the day, dont want to waste the beautiful weather we get!!! hope my advice helps if you decide to goto australia!! have a great trip! :-) you'll love it!! |

The people aren't drama queens
It was kinda slow and boring compared to the United States
The people are very nice
There is a subtle kind of racism, but just let it be known that you aren't aborigine, but a foreign minority, and you should be fine. Still, be aware many Aussie whites have a superiority complex...
Tipping isn't expected there, but you can if you want to. It's like feeding wild animals, but hey...
People are quiet
The food is horrible...your first trip to the supermarket will be an eye-opener.
Spotting kangaroos, wallabies and koalas ALIVE everyday is next to impossible. You will find roadkill, but you will have to go onto a ranch or to a zoo to find them.
Kangaroos like to herd together in hundreds, it's quite a sight.
The men love to wear stubbies, or extremely short shorts that teenage girls in America like to wear. Kinda weird.
The people are more English than anything else. Not many people have those brawling Aussie accents. |

I went to Oz in 2001, bought a car and drove from Sydney all the way round the coast (22 and half thousand kilometres!) back to sydney again - it took three and a half months and we camped the entire way.
My favourite part was the south west corner, from perth downwards. Beautiful scenery.
The north was crazy, and very very hot. we had a thermometre in the car and it exploded at 55 degrees! we didnt have air conditioning and by the end of the trip you could see people shaped outlines on the car seats from the salt in our sweat!
Ozzy really is fantastic, if you after partying stick to the east coast.
cape tribulation, north of cairns, is also well worth a trip. the rainforest is beautiful and its the best place to see the great barrier reef (without the crowds)
Are you going? Im jealous! |

Well i am biased, as i am an Aussie, however i have spent 12 years living out of Australia, on and off, and always could not wait to get back home, some countries has the odd thing better than Australia but overall Australia is by far better, i will state a few reasons, we have a multicutural society here, and mosyimmigrants have left their problems behind, but we have been enhansed by the food and culture they bring with them, the crime rate is very low, especialy in Melbourne, where i come from, we can walk anywhere at night, not like UK or USA, |

I have, i went for 16 days in may 2005. Wasnt long enough by far. I travelled from brisane to cairns (which was probably a bit far for how long i was there!!) but still managed to see plenty. Went off road driving and camping on fraser island, snorkelling on the great barrier reef and much much more. Just have one wish-and thats to go ack again!!! |

Yeah amazing ONCE YOU LEAVE SYDNEY DONT GO THEY ARE JUST GET PISSED AND STONED IN KINGS CROSS
learn to scuba dive in thailand on the way for when you get to the great barrier reef.
Wont spoil it but look up andos outback tour from sydney to byron Bay if you want to see real australia.
oh and in nimbin dope is legal...
The reef is amazing, instead of pigeons they have cockatoos and bats.
Dolphins, whales and sooo much more... go man...
Oh and in sydney make sure you check out wednesday jelly wrestle night at the Oxford Tavern/Ritas in Petersham a few stops from central on the Purple line... Wildest Aussie bar in town and lots of fun, the girls have fun too.

Check out pictures below.
It is hard to imagine what it will be like. In a way it is not that different from other places. But the people are really nice and helpful.
Sydney has everything like other big cities with neat bridge climb and fantastic harbor scenery.
Brisbane has the Lone Pine with good setup for koala bear and kangaroo encounters.
The Great Barrier Reefs was grand. Try to see it from the air and of course dive or snorkel there.
The rain forest north of Cairns was really interesting. Watch out for crocodiles. It is worthwhile taking a good tour. Aboriginal village and cultural show were good. Try Kuranda Scenic Railway train ride down to Cairns.
The Dream World and Sea World are also fun.
Of course, the entire Gold Coast is a place to hang out if you enjoy the beach and water.
Love to go back soon! |
