I'm an Australian so everything I'll tell you about the people is very biased e.g. we're all intelligent, good looking, friendly, great sportspeople etc, but here are the facts about the weather.
Australia is a huge country so you'll find nearly every type of possible climate here. The only climate we don't have is the snowy, icy, harsh winter found in the north of the UK, Europe and North America.
I live in south east Queensland (Brisbane) and here we have very mild winters for about 3 months and the rest of the year is warm to hot. We get most of our rain in the warmer months, so even if it's cool, it isn't wet and miserable.
Further north (up around Cairns and Townsville), the weather is tropical and they don't really have any winter at all. From June to August it's a bit cooler and drier and December through February are hot and humid with the other 6 months in between. It's warm enough to swim all year around.
Darwin in the extreme north of the country is really tropical and is hot to very hot all year around with a monsoon season in the hotter months.
Around Sydney has cool to cold winters (though never below about 10C (50F) during the day, pleasant spring and autumn and hot summers. It's fairly humid most of the year and rains all year around.
Melbourne and Adelaide are colder in winter (but still don't drop much below about 8C during the day), cooler in spring and autumn and have hot summers. Most of the rain is in winter.
Perth on the west coast is rather like Sydney climate wise but is drier and Tasmania, our most southern state is the coldest in winter (but still nothing like as cold as the northern hemisphere places mentioned earlier).
Apart from mid winter snow in the high mountains (the Australian Alps) and the odd unusual one day light fall in the Melbourne hills, the NSW Blue Mountains and the Queensland Granite Belt, it doesn't snow anywhere.
Also true and unbiased - it's a beautiful and interesting country with a huge variety of landscapes from the famous Great Barrier Reef, through our magnificent coastline and beaches to the arid, desert interior. And the people are genuinely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Come and see for yourself. |

Yup I've been there three times. To Brisbane/Gold Coast when I was 8 and again when I was 18, and to Sydney just last year (when I was 24). I really liked it, nice and warm compared to New Zealand where I come from hehe. (But NZ is great too, you should come here!!) |

Lol I've lived there for 13 years (my whole life) and its pretty mad : )
I think the people are nice but like ... arent they everywhere ?
theres TONS to do and its got a lot of different scenery and stuff.
Theres the bush
The beach
The city
The country
etc etc.
The weathers good tho it can get stinkin hot around christmas, but thats what the beach is for right ?! but generally the weathers good just depends where u are.
Oh and if u come TRY VEGEMITE.
honestly, its one of the best things on the planet lol.
but like someone else said, we dont go around in kangaroo pouches, or ALL talk like :G'day mate ! Fair dinkum ! etc hahah and koalas and kangaroos arent everywhere anymore unfortunetly ! you'd be lucky if u saw one in the wild but then again if you were in the outback then youd have a good chance.
Stay sweet mate. |

Yes twice, its great. I have friends who have emigrated to Sydney. First time I went I stayed in Sydney, the 2nd time I went we flew to Cairns for 9 days, that was really cool. The weather and the people are wonderful. I'd recommend it to anyway and the wine is superb!!!!! |

i am currently visiting here in Oz.the place is great.life is so laid back but i love it. the people are so warm and friendly. the beaches are great.no pollution, not much traffic and very nice and cool weather. the only thing i hate is extreme heat during summer time, when it hits 40 degrees during day time. its hard to go roaming around.
there are plenty of activities to do like nature tripping and sight seeing.
there are plenty of pretty slim girls. compared to other races, the australians are a bit shorter and many sport dark hair not blonde. |

Well we have great weather and great people. It's a really big country so we have deserts, rainforests and really good quality beaches. Most of the population live in the major cities on the coast so we have pretty urban lifestyles. Come over here sometime and experience it yourself! |

I've been to Queensland. It was quite cold and wet in the south (it was August) but warm in the north.
Culturally I'd say it's like a mixture of the UK and US. Most of the cities were modern and uninteresting, although Brisbane was very pleasant. There is some spectacular countryside but quite a lot of it is inaccessible unless you are determined and well prepared - once you get away from the 'civilised' coastal strip it is quite hostile landscape and you have to know what you are doing.
If you like beaches and barbeques and outdoor sports (which I don't) then you would very much like Australia. If you want landscape and interesting animals, then it is worth a visit. On the other hand, if you want history and culture I would go somewhere else. (Not saying there isn't any history or culture, just that you can get more of it in other places.) |

I moved here from California 36 years ago. The people here are very helpful and friendly. The weather varies as Australia is almost the size of the USA and different areas have different weather. Spring is here now and Christmas is celebrated in summer. It has to be the worlds best kept secret. |

I live in Australia. The weather in northern Aus is hot in Summer with afternoon thunderstorms frequent in the south in summer it is mild. In winter north is mild and south is cool/cold but you get used to it. The people are really nice but unfortunately like all countries there are criminals.
The best city in Australia is Melbourne and that is backed up by it being given awards for the worlds most "Sustainable City" and the City of Literature.
The Worst place to live is Brisbane & South east Queensland and that is backed up by it constantly being on the news for something bad e.g Armed Robbery, Assault, and worst of all Murder it also has bad infrastructure etc. Mean while Melbourne is the opposite of all that :)
Trust me don't be fooled by Brisbane & South east Queensland's beaches, tourism campaigns because it is a waste of your time and money.
So if you decide to come visit our country come to the City of Melbourne! You won't regret it one bit.
There are some links below on Melbourne etc that you can look at. |

Most of the time, it's either pretty hot or cold and windy/raining. Not that it actually rains that often, because we're in a drought. It only really gets cold in Winter.
The people are pretty good, but a lot are lazy as all hell.
And we don't ride around in kangaroo's pouches. |
