ABummer

Have you heard about the Australian Bushfires?

I was just wondering if it is big enough to make news all around the world.

Yes, actually someone from the UK was asking questions about it on the Y!A boards last night.

I think Sunrise had snippets of news broadcasts from around the world this am.

Even countries like Cuba and Andorra have offered help ... so yeah, it's pretty globally known.

yea i was watching sunrise thismorning and apparently it was on the news all over the world even in like thailand and stuff, and this arvo they said obama sent us his condolances and the queen did yesterday.
i do know that this morning at 9 the red cross donations were up to 13mill, by 10.30 15mill, and on the 6oçlock news they said nearly 29million!
good work australia, proud to be one

It is international news. It is reported on Good Morning America (we get delayed telecast in Australia of that programme at 5 am... can you tell I work some odd hours?) and I am pretty sure it is news all around the world. Since nearly 200 people have been confirmed dead, it's a pretty massive disaster.

I live in Scotland in the Uk.

It's in the news here a lot. I hope it gets better for all you Australians though, a lot of my family live there!

Yes, it's all around the world in the news at the moment. So many poor people have lots their lives or their homes and loved ones. It's so sad. Such a big tragedy!

I've had family and friends in Canada, America, Poland and Japan ask about me and my family.

The news on the tv here in England has spent a fair amount of time covering this awful event. The newspapers also have extensive coverage, there is a two page spread in The Times today. Having never seen a 'bush fire', it is hard to imagine how terrifying it must be.
My thoughts are with all of those affected.

The Australian Red Cross are accepting on-line donations.

Might be a good idea to post this Q in Polls & Surveys also since that section is populated by all different nationalities..

There have been so many countries sending condolances and offers of help...even as far as Andorra and Iran.

Its humbling to know how caring the human race be in times of tragedy.

Yeah, it's international news. It's been covered in Britain and in the US.
So people pretty much know about it everywhere.

You posted this in Australia, so if you haven't heard about it, then there is something seriously wrong with you.

It's not just news its the ONLY news, at least in NSW we haven't heard about any other news since the fires started.

There are fires in NSW too but I don't know anything about them, they're not telling us. True the Victoria fires are devastating but I would like to know what's going on in my own backyard also.
