One thing that I've found extremely helpful was blogging. That way,no matter what time of the day it is,I can keep in touch and stay in the know about whats going on in my friends lives. |

Buy a digital watch - $15 - 30. Mine has a "Dual times" feature. Set one time on your current time zone, then set the other to Australian time when you get there. Then you will always know what time it is "back home". |

When I lived in the USA, I had two clocks, one on New Jersey time and one on Melbourne time. I also downloaded a program for my PC that displayed times in both zones, and I printed out a table that showed what time it was at home at a particular time in the US.
I also made an arrangement with my family and friends that I would be online at a certain time on a certain day so that they could talk to me via IM then (but sometimes I was too busy having fun to be there! Oops!).
I was fortunate to be studying at a university with my own laptopn and I had internet access in my room, but if you won't have your own internet access or computer, there are plenty of public libraries that offer free (or at least very cheap) internet access to users, as well as internet cafes and computer kiosks (in most major shopping centres) that give you some online time for a few dollars. Good luck! :) |

e-mail would be the easiest. you could also figure out the exact time difference and set up a specific time with those you need to call so that they would be awake/available when you call. |

In three weeks, the ones that matter will still be your friends.
Besides that, I would go with e-mailing, or just waking up early and using IMs. It's about a half-day difference, so after breakfast for you should be a good time to catch them in the evening.
Also, don't be afraid to write letters. They're more heartfelt and leave something to keep to remember by. |

the time diff is 14 hours (Australia is ahead). you either have to call in the morning or at night. they have diff cell phones over there. they r all on diff frequencies or something like that.
the easiest way to keep in touch is by e-mail. |
