I have heaps of facts that may help your project, you just haven't said what aspects of Australia you're interested in-history, culture, politics, art, society, geography, environment, education, heritage, there are so many angles that can be covered. Would you please either add an edit to your question and I'll check it again later, and answer the best I can about what you're most interested in, or e-mail me if you like. I don't mind helping out with your assignment, or educating someone from another country about my country, one of my favourite subjects:) Okay?

australia is the largest island
and the population was around 21 000 000 in july 2008 which is pretty small seeing that the area of it is 7,617,930 SQ KM

also Australia is the sixth largest nation after Russia, Canada, China, the United States of America and Brazil.

Australia is the only nation to govern an entire continent

also Australia is the driest inhabited continent on earth.

australia and new zealand are two different countrys btw
the prime minster of australia is kevin rudd

Can you be a little more specific??

1) I live there....
2) Capital is Canberra...(the location of Parliament house.)
3) HOT up north...COLD down south.
4)Our indigenous peoples have and still continue to suffer vast inequality.
5)Prime Minister is Kevin Rudd...(aka Kevin 07, or Uncle Kev...)

Australia is fairly hot while New Zealand is mild in temperature.

Both where colonies of the British empire.

Both fought together as the ANZAC's.

Australia is very close with the USA while New Zealand is not because of it's Anti-Nuclear policy.

Both are parliamentary democracies.

Advance australian fare is the national anthem of australia while god of nations is the national anthem of new zealand.

LOL thats all I can think of the fact is we sound very different and we both have different names for the same objects. Not very helpful but fun.

Australia was discovered in 1813 by Captain Arthur Phillip. New Zealand was discovered in 1840 by Johnathon Ma'ori.

Australia and New Zealand are technically the same country because of the treaty of ANZAC which was signed in 1931.

The Prime Minister of Australia is Peter Brock.
