Our local supermarket has a "give 5 for kids" bin next to every check out for people to put any pesky 5 cent coins in. The money is donated to the childresn ward of the local hospital and some charity or other that has something to do with research into childhood diseases.
PS they also have one of those big guide dogs near the door so that you can put the rest of your pesky coins in that and help the guide dog association train more guide dogs! |

I also stick them in a tin with all my loose change.
I'm not above spending a little longer at a vending machine to pay for a packet of chips with just 5 and 10 cent pieces, either. |

there are a few good ways to get rid of these scurges of society.
*Recently it is worth more than 5 c to melt them down and sell off the vairious metal bases- i.e nickle, cooper etc (the down side is that it is illegal.
*You can super glue 2 together and fool the coin operated machines into thinking it is a 2 dollar coin.
*You can just toss them of tell em to keep the change as i do.
*You can store them up then reall p#ss off a bank teller by banking them into your account- this is fun as revenge if you get poor service at your local branch.
anyway I hope this helps you. |

Tellthem where you are, if not in Aust. give them to international airlines project that uses money raised to help kids all over.
But if in Aust. take them to a bank....which bank!! |

I chuck all my coins in a tin and take them to the bank when it gets too full. It's amazing what I've saved. I've been on overseas holidays just by saving small change. |

You aussies should do what us kiwis did and get rid of them and make them into earings and stylish cigarette holders *shudder*.
At least teh 5 cent wasn't as bad as the 1 and 2 cent in America! |

Do I detect a movement in the air to do away with the dear little 5center?
First it was the darling little bronze 1c coins, then the sweet (slightly larger) 2c coins.
Where will it end?
Shame! Are no Aussie coins safe from you?
LOL.
To actually answer your question, I just keep them in my purse and spend them when that denomination is needed. |

mmmmm.....the 5 cent coin can be a real pain in the a$s!!!
I find that i have about 20 of them in my purse at one time!!!
But if i go and buy a juice, trust me i will ALWAYS be 5 cents short and have to break a note.
How do i get rid of them - put them in charity tins!! |

I put them in a jar and exchange them at a bank when I have way too many, then the whole process goes over and over. |
