Hi, I am going to Australia for 2 and a half weeks in Nov/Dec, will I need a visa for this length of time?

I'm visiting friends over there but only going for a short holiday 2 weeks and 2 days I will be staying there.

It depends on your nationality. If you are an American, no you do not need a visa. Visa's to "modern" countries are usually only required for stays of three months or longer.

Enjoy your time "down under"!

Did that girl say "visas to modern countries are not needed"? Yes, for most "modern" countries but Australia is an exception. For those people saying that you do NOT need a visa, that is not true!! Everyone needs at least a tourist visa to get into Australia but it's easy to get online.

This company does it for really cheap:

It doesn't matter how short your stay is, remember that you need a visa!

The answer is on the Australian Government's official website:

http://www.immi.gov.au/visitors/index.htm

You did not actually say where you are travelling from? If you are a refugee from say Afghanistan then you might not want to bother with a visa.

I don't know from which country you are going to enter but as I visited Australia for so many times (coming from Germany) I never had any problems to get it. Ask a travel agency and this will be done electronically. So you only need to show this piece of paper along with your valid passport. Visa is valid for 3 months within a period of 1 year. You actually can travel in and out of Australia as many times as you want within 1 year from the date the visa had been printed.

honey
yup you will need a non-immigrant australian visa..whether you're gonna stay there for an hour or a month, you have to have a non-immigrant visa..

Alias Smith & Jones
Contact the Australian consulate or embassy. Go online to find them.

Tojo
Yeah everyone needs a visa unless you are a refugee. Then they will lock you up for years in a detention centre untill you are processed or sent back.

Behhar B
Actually New Zealanders don't need a visa but they are one of the very few exceptions. When we go back home to NZ and Aus in April, my American Fiancee will need a visa for the two week trip.

g
more than likly yes but it does depend on where u r coming from

I honestly am not sure but i would go for a longer amount of time so that God Forbid something happens you will be covered. contact a place that does passports, they may know and may be easier to contact! I really hope this helps and you have a wonderful safe trip!
