Hi Chaitra,

Australia's such a beautiful country with layback attitude and excellent lifestyle. Depending on what you're after, here are some cities suggestion I could lay out with some of its individual unique flavour.

Australia's a very multicultural country everywhere you go you'll find different culture and food all like a melting pot.

Most companies would based themselves in 2 major cities such as Sydney or Melbourne with ocassional branch at Perth and Brisbane.

Sydney
- The home of lots of expats
- located in the east coast of Australia in a state of New South Wales
- Temperature is very pleasant all year round (not too hot nor cold) between 15-29 centigrade.
- Famous for its beautiful Beaches and harbours within very close proximity to the main CBD
- Great city to party, clubbing and lots of nice restaurarnts (Asian food is the best here)
- Sydney Harbour, Opera House, Zoo as well as their national park of Blue Mountain are the main attractions
- You can ski during winter at Perisher Blue Mountain
- Public transport is train and buses.
- Driving in Sydney can be nightmare due to the traffic jams
- House prices and Rent is very high (almost unaffordable for average Australian)

Melbourne
- located in the south east coast of Australia in a state called Victoria
- It has a European feeling with its old buildings
- Voted to be the world's most livable city
- Famous for little alleys with hidden pubs and quaint restaurants and cafes
- Lots of nice bars and good restaurants (european especially Italian and Greek restauratns are the best here)
- Weather - 4 seasons in one day (can be chilly cold then rain then sunny)
- The home of Australian Open Tennis Tournament, Melbourne Cup Horse Racing/Spring Racing Carnival and F1 Grand Prix
- Torquay/Bells Beach surfing beach, The great ocean road, Dandenong Ranges, phillip island (penguin parade) are some of the main attractions wiht Melbourne Zoo voted to be one of the best in the world.
- You can ski here during winter at Mt Buller, Mt Hotham, Falls Creek or do a cross country ski at Lake Mountain.
- Public transport include trains, trams and buses (mostly trains and trams)
- House prices are high but affordable compare to Sydney
- Currently the vacancy rate for inner city suburbs are 1%, so would be tough to find a place to rent these days.

Adelaide
- Located in the south of Australia in a state called South Australia
- The water is a hard water but weather's quite pleasant cool (average temperature 14-25 centigrade)
- It's a little town rather than city but a cute town :-)
- A bit quieter compare to Melbourne and Sydney however it has nice church buildings.
- Barossa Valley, Kangaroo Island, Cobber Pedy Opal mine are some of the main attractions.
- This is where the famous train line that goes to Northern terrirtory starts.
- You can do shark dive here too
- Public transport include trains and buses (there's one tram that goes to the glenelg beach)
- Adelaide has a little town feeling and a lot more relaxing compare to Sydney or Melbourne.

Perth
- located in the west coast of Australia in a state called Western Australia
- It's a little bit bigger than Adelaide but smaller than Sydney/Melbourne
- A very cosmopolitan city with some good pubs, bars and restuarants
- Tropical weather all year round :-)
- Nice and long coastal beaches everywhere...
- Lots of national parks and beach (monkey Mia where you can swim and see dolphin by just standing in the coast :-)).
- Lot of mining towns around Perth
- Closer towards Asia (flights to Indonesia is 5 hrs while to singapore is 6 hrs) but far from Australian cities such as Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane (approx 5 - 5.5 hrs flight)
- There's still a possibility to get a bargain house in some Perth suburbs.

Brisbane
- located in the east coast of Australia just above New South Wales
- Similar size ot Adelaide wiht tropical weather
- Within close proximity to all Australian beach holiday locations including the famous Great Barrier Reef, Sunshine coast, Gold Coast
- Tropical weather all around.
- Most companies based themselves in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth so probably limited employment opportunities if you're after companies to work for and the city itself is always in beach holiday mood hehe..a bit similar to hawaii :-)

I wouldn't really recommend expats to live in Canberra or Darwin or Tasmania because:

Canberra
- small and nothing to do unless you go to university of canberra or work in the government (as this is where the capital of Australia and governmental works are done)
- Airports are busiest on Monday morning , where everyone's arriving and Friday afternoon where everyone's leaving Canberra to go home.

Darwin
- For some reasons, it's too remote for me
- Great to base yourself travelling in Northern Territory state as there're sooo many things to see and do there tourist wise.

Tasmania
- Too Quiet unless you'd like to retire
- The most beautiful state I have to admit due to its natural sceneries and lovely people.
- Go have your holiday here like hiking the famous Craddle mountain, visit the ciders and vineyards, visit the historical site of Port Arthur, Lots of nice old trees and they're really massive! it's a true nature holiday you'll be having if you decide to spend your holiday here.

Bustling metro would be Sydney and Melbourne.
Growth and development in Brisbane and Perth.
Quiet and serenity in Hobart and Adelaide
Development and humidity, Darwin.
Politicians, Canberra.

come to Sydney, we have everthing, In less then 1 hour car ride you, depending were u live, u can be in the heart of the city, or laying out in on of Sydney's world class beaches (Bondi, Manly) , plus there are plenty of jobs out there.
