Hi, looks as though you have a lot of information already.
My man is a brickie. We live near Sydney.
Perth in W.A. is screaming for bricklayers, mine wants to go but I dont want to leave the family.
I have been there and its great, will definitely go back. Anyway, if you want to be assured of work go there. It is on the west coast and the weather is mild, pretty hot in summer.
There are lots of things to do and see, and accommodation wouldnt be hard to find. Good luck and hope you have a great time.

I sepnt 12 months in Australia and it was fantastic. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. As already advised get in touch with the embassy, I found them to be very helpful. You should be able to go on a Working Holiday Visa without much trouble. Have fun!
I found it reassuring buying a round trip bus ticket from Greyhound / Pioneer. It meant I had travel back to my starting point paid for should I run out of money or work. The Youth Hostels are very good and it's worth joining the YHA.

Perth is having a building boom at the moment. Your boyfriend may find it easier to get work here. I'm not sure about the east coast.

www.bugaustrailia.com your hostel bible

Avoid staying in Kings Cross sydney its a trap.

DON'T by an activites package

For your whisundays cruise go for the avatar looks like something out of startrek (trimaran yacht 3 hulls)

Don't stay long in sydney...

However go with mates to Paddies market at 4ish on A sunday for amazing deals on food ie 1 kg massive green king prawns $10kg (elsewhere its $33)

**************************************...
http://www.outbacktours.com.au/ <------------ this is a MUST!!!!
**************************************...
If boyfriend if very good he will love jelly wrestling night wed, at at the Oxford Tavern form 9.30 in Petersham a few stops from central... turn right on bridge, left up hill right into main raod 150m.Check out cockatoos in parks like Sydneys botanical Gardens

Wildest bar in aus... (that way he will reallly owe you...girls welcome too)

Swimming with sharks best in the Gold coast seaworld in Surfers Paradise...(well fed Tiger shark as opposed to sissy nurse sharks).

Eat in Draculars and def check out this attraction called infinity... best when eating 'Nimbin Cookies' completely wacky and a lot cooler then it sounds.

Don't enter or dangle feel in the BULL VERY MUCH MAN EATING SHARKS in the canals in Surfers Paradise.

Check out Byron bay and Nimbin (best on Sunday) with Channon market and stay in the 'Arts Factory...' Really cool

Nimbin got dope legalised in a funny way... think amsterdam crossed with 60s hippy. Only in town. the cookies are the real stuff.

Work in Sydney, Brisbane, Melborne,

Surfers Paradise... Be very careful as dodgy guys one who shifts hire cars and rips of backpackers looking for work.

Then Brisbane (Work sydney, Brisbane, gold coast, cairns, Melborne (go see hand feed wild dolphins (rent low light video camera.. no flash) on Morton Island.

Get with a agency called something One I think... He will need a greencard in NSW and Blue one in Queensland... safety induction... bring qualifications... And learn stuff like fork lift... the more skills the better.

You learn to type fast, get waitressing (you did not mention your skills) , bar experience as much as poss.

Leave lots of time to change things ie weather and avoid the rainy season if poss (could mess up for months the centre and north)

Next Noosa... red trinagles = land mines or unexploded bombs... Not a joke... but best area to see Steve Irwins zoo.
(You can book to take tigers walkies but in advance...)

**************************************...
Can also do that in Thailand... Likely stop off

Go see tigers in tiger temple in Kanchanbanui <------------------must do
**************************************...
Thailand notes... Street food good. Always say meter in taxis, avoid tuk tuks and NEVER (bar the big one in the main train station) book anything from a TNT bus wise... Always go for theThai buses/coaches... Much better the tourist ones are conns in awful (not like pic) leaky things...

Don't go in Patpong upstairs (think unusual use of ping pong balls) bars dangerous rip offs ie they demand cash... all others are fine.

Test rucksacks with up to 30 kg weight for a period of time.

Get a camel pack (water backpack and keep in freezer)

Check out Fraser Island and Palace landrovers are backpack theif proof (Hard top)the island has professional backpack thieves and lots of top wild life like Dingos...

But for fuks sake stay out of the water there its teaming with jelly fish and TIGER sharks and yes we saw them.

If going via OZ experience DEFF <------------------ must do the chopper ride in Dingo unlike any where else its not high level scenic its tear in between trees like ski posts acrobatic dogfight like

Blokie will LOVE IT

Airlie beach see the Avatar boat. Cheap last minute deals and girlie bar competitons to win boat cruises...

The good ones are around $400. Much less cheap and nasty (must stay on boat or over crowded, kite mark symbol and check times 3 days 2 nights means moring start and evenening fin... the other way around is a 2 day rip off if you work it out.

Much more then $400 is oldies.

Cairns for Scuba diving... they got this cool one Taka Dive I think where you get surrounded by friendly reef sharks (then drop in a fish kebab) and cod hole or coral sea best and priciest...

Saw half price deals there (ie half price was $500)

Hire cars for Cape Tribualtion and tablelands

Oh and trees full of Mangos

Stay in Captain cooks, calipsos or Gilligans in town next to top fruit market but pricy

Oh and in Melborne deff check out Philip Island and the Penguin Parade

Visas are only a year long, and you both (you and your man) have to be in a good trade to be accepted in to the country. you take a test on the internet that gives you points. if you get over a particular amount then you will be accepted. it costs around £150. It checks whether you are eligible and will let you know in a week or so what the outcome is. i think its www.visabureau.com

Hi there,

If you and your boyfriend are both under 30 years of age you will be able to apply for a Working Holiday Visa. If you have had a working holiday visa before you will not be able to apply for a second one. If you are over 30 you will need to either be sponsored by a company or apply for a residence visa.

If you need more information send me an email on Jessica.Stooke@Visalogic.net

Hi I applied for a 12 month working holiday Visa, it cost about 80 pounds and I had it 3 days after applying. You can apply through the Australian Embassy on line. It was a really fast and efficent way. The visa I have only allows me to work in 1 place for a mzximum of 3 months. But I plan to travel all the time hopefully, and just work to boost my account when I need to. For accomodation I am going to stay in hostels. They are the cheapest way when traveling around.

Good luck.
