I think you should bring someone with you, bring a family member or friend. Plus, there are always friendly people there to help you. As long as you have enough money for a hotel or something, you will be fine. Before you leave you should try to find a good place to stay. You have to stay planed.

Book into the YHA near Central, or a backpackers at Glebe. These are both a short bus ride from your college. Usually there are notices in these places for share accommodation. There will also be notices at the college noticeboard for share accommodation. You can also try www.gumtree.com.au which many students use for accommodation as well as purchasing cheap furniture etc.

For the friends thing, you'll make friends. As for housing, you don't know where you're staying yet?! Look online for some appartments. Your mom/parent isn't going with you??

Go to a backpackers Hostel firstly then get the newspapers to look for shared accommodation . Public transport is good.
