Yeah Brisbane is pretty booming at the moment. Both dad and bro in the building trade and we all live in Brissie. But melbourne and sydney aren't to be forgetten about as they are the 2 biggest cities in austrlia and always need tradies.

Check out:
www.careerone.com.au
www.seek.com.au

They might help you but I would think that you'd get a job pretty easily in any one of those 3 cities. I guess it's just time to research which city you'd like better.

HAVE FUN

Sounds like a good idea! I would suggest, Brisbane, Queensland as the building and construction industry is booming right now and consequently are tradesmen are getting paid well.

Queensland is home to the most beautiful beaches and rainforests; you will love it.

Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne are all under going building boom so you shouldn't have much trouble, however you will need the necessary work visas and tickets before you get hired. Get hold of a copy of TNT magazine (Australian), this should tell you more. Check out a web-site called skillvance.com.au this has a heap of info.

Avoid the bush. No bricklayers needed there.

Excellent idea. Bricklayers are on the skilled occupation list meaning you are in-demand and can warrant a high salary. I have heard of brickies making $100,000 a year which is approx double the average.

You would need to go to a major city. They are all going through a housing boom so there should be no problem finding work, but I recommend Melbourne. Not only because it is a great city, but they are the best payers in construction.

The unions in construction are strong down there too. They give construction workers LOADS of holidays and extra perks.

Good Luck

You must try scuba diving off the Great Barrier Reef - it's fabulous.
