Jesus is Lord over all

Hi to my fellow Aussies, just want to know if you have been to the US?

I have 3 times and hated it. The yanks are a weird bunch that is for sure. anyway have you been to the US? and what do you think of the Panel in QLD that might not be hiring an Aussie for their campaigns for that 150,000 dollor job for 6 months? I think an Aussie should get it. I just hope in immigrants do. what do you think?

I have been twice to California and loved it. Am going again next holiday. I found the Yanks, sorry Americans, very friendly and not much different to Aussies. We are more laid back than they are but they seem to move at a faster pace and always seem to be in a hurry. Great people though.

That's a huge generalisation. There are weird people everywhere. Just go to any capital city, anywhere in the world and there's always some weirdos.
Don't forget when you are visiting you would meet different people to if you were living there. ie. hotel staff, restaurant staff, entertainment staff etc... and you cannot really base your opinion on those people and the few others you might meet.

Well, it really is just what you are used to. I am an American living in Australia and I am very homesick for my homeland. I actually think the US is a nicer place to live than Australia. It has much more diversity, history and culture. Australia is a lovely place to live if you like beaches and camping. Plus, I think Australia is a lot like the sourthern part of the US, like Texas. Perhaps if you had been to that area, you would have found some things in common. Anyway, my real point is that people like what they are used too.

why do you hate us? I'm a yank by the way

well im american, and quite insulted bu this question. If you were only to america 3 times, then you could not have seen all of it, thus how could you hate it so much? plus you did not meet all "yanks" that live in america, maybe we are a nicer bunch than australians, who is to say but dont make generalizations that you cant back up please it is very rude.

Never been doubtful I will ever go. But only as I do not have photo ID ( don't drive, not a member of club etc) I am unable to get a passport. Can you believe that?
I would expect it to be similar to us here in Australia to some degree. Just alot more guns & the sorta violence that goes on in news.

I have been to the west coast of america but I also did not enjoy my trip so much. It was ok and there were certainly some major highlights (such as disneyland!) but the people are not generally very friendly. On the same trip we were lucky enough to go to Canada as well - and I tell you - that is a totally different story. I could not believe the difference in the people just from the moment we literally walked off the plane. And the place was so clean too - no brown sky like in places like LA. Even the grand canyon was a bit of a dissapointment - probably only cause it has been talked up so much by the yanks - don't get me wrong - it is impressive - but I guess I was just expecting something more spectacular from what I had heard. But I have to say that the trip gave me a renewed appreciation for Australia - I mean, at least we aknowledge each other when we accidently bump into someone in the street. And at least our news consists of countries other than America! (Of all the news we saw on tv - not one mentioned anything about what was happening in the rest of the world.)

I would also like to add however that I have family and friends from America - and I have nothing against any of them. As individuals they are really lovely people - however as a race they can be quite rude and arrogant.
