G'day,

It is bad and unfortunately I have to say that none of the governments done anything to fix the problem.

C'mon... this is Australia! One of the western developed country and here we got a problem as simple as water?!! We are already being ridiculed by our neighbors, even the one that we are called "Developing country).

Please-please-please... politicians... do something. Look at all the answerers!!! Something need to be done and soon!! B'cos of water drought, everything becomes expensive (eg, vegetables, b'cos no water)... it will ruin the economy as well.

Hope this helps...

Really, really bad!

"It is a grim situation and there is no point in pretending to Australia otherwise. We must all hope and pray there is rain," Prime Minister John Howard told a news conference at Parliament House in Canberra.

At least half of Australia's arable land is currently affected by the drought and the livelihoods of farmers are looking dire. The government has already provided $A670 million dollars in aid to farmers, and more is needed. The drought not only impacts the $30 billion farm export industry it causes tangential problems such as an increase in suicide rates among those affected. and problems with thirsty wildlife such as feral camels wandering into harms way.

Its really bad, and the cities have it much easier.... I live in the country and at the moment we are on stage 5 water restrictions which means no washing your car, or watering your garden with town water. Also our town has no water in the resevoir, so all our town water comes from ground water and tastes disgusting! Most people buy water to drink.

So many people, also put a bucket in the bottom of their shower to collect water, or divert their washing machines to gather grey water to keep their plants alive.

The ground is dry and hard, often sports are postponed or cancelled because the ovals are too hard to play on.

Farmers, are buying water to fill empty dams for livestock, or others are just selling up what they can. People are really worried about what is going to happen if it doesn't rain soon, and even John Howard can only say we should all "hope and pray for rain"

yes there is a bad drought here the country areas are suffering badly. I live in the city of Perth, we still have lots of water to use but we have to be sensible no wastage, no dripping taps, only watering garden twice a week, recycling any water used in washing etc. We are not going to die of dehydration but must preserve what we have and hope this coming winter will be a wet one.

Brisbane is very dry hard to find green grass you can only water plants by bucket for a few hours a week no washing houses/paths/cars & lots of people hav rein water tanks now but no rain to fill them country areas are worse off than the city

The drought is extremely bad throughout the country not just in one particular spot. Most people because they live in the cities do not realise how bad it is. Unless there are significant rains in the next few weeks Adelaide will go to level 5 water restrictions that will ban the watering of gardens. Baths may be banned and showers timed. People using excess water will have washers put in their water meters to restrict flow.

Well although the cities are in drought, the country towns dont have ANY water. The farmers have been told that there will not be enough water to irrigate the farms this year. Dire straights really. SOmething should have been done years ago

Up here in Far north Q'ld we probably have enough water to send all around the country.....Level 5 water restrictions are on in Brisbane. Many parts of this country are in drought but like the old saying goes...after the drought theres a flood. Hopefully the people that need the rain will get it soon....We sure dont need it up here...Had enough this wet season
