Collette, gm is correct.. the thing to keep in mind is that you are bound to come across fellow travellers that are more than happy to tell of what's good and what's not over here - much of it is stuff we take for granted.
If in doubt....ask a local and you won't go wrong!

It depends what sort of alcohol and of what quality.

It's not overly dear, but I don't know what it is where you live so I couldn't compare it...

If you drink in the tourists area the price is close to UK prices but if you drink in other areas prices are cheaper.

NSW has many licensed clubs, mostly outside of the Sydney city centre area, which charge prices significantly cheaper, up to 50%, than you will find elsewhere.

Just be aware that if you drink in areas of high tourist activity expect to pay a little and sometime a lot, more then what Aussies pay in there local watering holes.

I found that to be the same in most countries I have visited.

Many places have their prices displayed so you can make a judgement before you order.

Expensive enough that you should not consider, instead spend your money in things to do and things to see while in
australia. HAVE FUN You will like the country and will be coming back

when I was there in 1979 it was just light and dark beer on tap which wasn't very pleasant-a chemical taste. Not too expensive. Maybe things have improved. I hope you have a great time.

g.m
same as uk (i go every year!)

toon_tigger
About the same as in the UK - don't expect to drink any Fosters out there though!

Wine is your best bet or Tooheys Light

ur normal bottles of spirits like Jim Beam etc are round the $30 mark, a carton of beer {Stubbies} $35, drinks in pubs $5 for mixed drinks, Pints of beer $4- $5 .

Telephone the brewery where Four-X is made
It's the brew for folks like you who don't drink lemonade
It's a great old brew you'll see, good for one and all
So when you're feelin' thirsty just give Castlemaine a call.

Bottles of Scotch, Gin, Brandy range from around $28 to $40 for low to medium-high quality. Rum a bit cheaper.

Bottles of wine - anything from $8 to $800. Good table wines from around $10 to $20.

gonzo
couldnt give a castlemain xxxx
