How did aboriginals pass on beliefs to other tribes?

KayKay
If they were shared (many tribes were rivals) it was done so verbally.

Im going to assume your talking about Australia Aboriginals. Running on that assumption, they passed their knowledge and culture solely by word (ie stories etc). Just take a look at the Dream time as they are the kind of stories handed down from generation to generation.

their elders - the old white-bearded ones you see getting around in their red loin cloth - talked a lot. still do. you can go to parliament house and listen to them.

generally speaking they didn't need to as each 'tribe' had their own beliefs and many shared similar beliefs in relation to creation and laws.

A lot of Aboriginal culture is passed down the generations via stories - it's a strong oral history. There are no written aboriginal languages - they only started being written down when the settlers came to Australia and started transcribing what they heard.

That said, these written transcripts were not necessarily the most accurate as they were mostly done by people with no lingustic background. Meaning, they would not have been able to properly transcribe the different sounds in the Aboriginal languages, some of which English speakers may not even be aware of!

There is no written language so it must be by word of mouth.
